New friend

March 29 2006

So we have a new little friend.

He’s pretty cool. He mostly just hangs out and doesn’t really say much. He’s pretty laid back and just kinda a go with the flow kinda guy. I guess that’s why we get alone.

Old people!!!

March 27 2006

The mom and dad came down!!!

So I got to see the old people this last week. We adventured around the island and played here and there!

They got to give me food and pay for my food and take me to food, It was great! I didn’t get to see them all that much since I still had to work and we also had the Mississippi team in, but it was ok. On the last night, they took me out to the niece’s restaurant on the island, called Mamas Fish House” . (WOW!!!!) It was a great way to end the week, and to give me more food, since there is no way I could ever go there on my own.

I Love them soooooo much and it was really great seeing and making fun of them.

Great week!

March 12 2006

What a great week. The one and only "Zach Ingle Experience" came down to Hawaii to hang out!

He play a little guitar….ok a lot of guitar..

We hung out on campus doing some outreach events!!!

And we went hiking, and got a little muddy.

Then on Wednesday "Miss Leslie Dudney" flew in to Maui to lead worship for us on Thursday night!!! It was great, I got to see my sis for the first time since I've been here. Anyways, we dressed up to pick her up…

Thursday night went great so Friday we were going to hang out at the beach…. Big beach that is, and the waves were huge!!!

Then Friday came and we we're sad b/c Zach was leaving at 4 and Leslie was leaving at 6, so after telling the Experience good-bye we got a cool black and white with our sister.

So it was a great week and I think we are going to try to do it again!!!!

p.s. im really tired so sorry if this blog was not that deep

A new red.

March 03 2006

Ooooo poor jeff…. So we went to the beach today, and well…….we we’re kinda out in the sun to long….well at least jeff was (Im still ok) but yeah you got to see these pics.

wow yeah maybe just a little to much sun

March 02 2006

This is my "O" to my best friend and brother in Christ Mr. Justin Vance aka "Justincredible". Many of you know him, some of you don't, but after this blog everyone will. There's no real reason why im doing this and its kinda long but if you know Justin you will read this so that you can get to know him even better and remember him since he's not in the boro right night….So with out any more delay Here's Justin

He's a cool guy, and for some odd reason we seem to get alone really well.

I guess its b/c we can just be really stupid together.

But as I said he's a pretty cool guy, and he has pretty good skill's…

like playing the guitar

Being a ninja

Watching fires

And getting his picture taken

He's a pretty laid back, go with the flow kinda guy.

And im sure your thinking isn't he….well you know…you know…kinda…

And the answer is no….as funny as those pictures are, no. he just really likes to spoon. And actually he has a good little something going on right now with a great little young lady….if I do say so my self…

He's just a great guy to hang out with and be around.

He's that good old country boy.

You always have a good time when you with him.

He'll keep you laughing .

He knows how to play Jenga

He will share his food with you

And he's always looking out for you

So to my bro this is for you. For all the great memories so far. Everything from driving down the road listing to MuteMath in Mississippi at night doing about 95 with the windows down, to scuba class almost being drowned by you, to having fun in the AO parking lot with peoples cars,

He's a nice guy, he's a great guy, he's my friend. But most importantly he's my brother in Christ....

so can i get a what what for Mr. justin Vacne

The sign…..

March 01 2006

For those of you that go to AO you know about our BIG signs that go on campus. Well Jeff and I thought it would be a good idea to make one for down here……

Making the sign….

What we needed

Wood and tools

We thought this was pretty funny, but we still took a chance and used it even though we’re not Hawaiian…..

And we worked hard really really hard

Well kinda

Starting to come together

Then it was time to paint….

Then spray painting

We we’re mostly making it up as we went, but we we’re happy w/ the end result….well I was since I was spraying. Jeff had to hold the stencils down….lol

And finally after 3 weeks of working on this thing….yes 3 weeks we got it on campus!!!

So we we’re really happy with what it came out looking like. We also went one past AO sign. You see our sign you can take out of the legs and just paint a new one to put in…AO sign you can’t do that…. Anyways what do ya’ll thank about the sign. We have gotten mixed feed back…

Good or Bad?

So I got to go surfing……

February 24 2006

I went surfing last weekend and it was great…. I can now say "I can surf!!!" We went out to where a lot of the locals go and made our way in, and much fun was had. When we first got there I thought the waves looked kinda small only to find out that they are much BIGGER when you're out there on them. But along with surfing for the first time, I got to see some whales swimming by about 100 yards out. Super cool!!! It was a great day

February 19 2006

So, yesterday morning..... I finally got my first chance to surf. HECK YEAH!!! I was so incredibly stoked.

I got up at 7am.... (how un-godly is that?) and waited for Shawn to pick me up.

Hodge wanted to sleep in and catch up on his rest..... so, he didn't come. (Pansy)

Well, things were goin alittle slower than expected, so I just walked up to his house and we left around 8 or so.

We got out to where we were goin (I have no idea how to spell it for you, so I won't try) and the water was smooth as glass........and the waves were perfect for learning on. They ranged from 1 1/2 to about 3 feet depending on the set that was rolling in at the time.

Shawn let me borrow his 9' long board (talk about a tank in da water) and it was on!!!!!!!

We paddle out what I would like to call, the "staging zone" were we'd wait on the waves to come.

From there, we'd paddle and try and get enough speed to get in front of the wave and then let it take us........... AND THEN, WE GOT TO PADDLE BACK TO THE STAGING ZONE.......... WHICH SUCKS!!!!!!!!

I can't lie; I think that I fell off that stupid board everyway possible. I fell to the side. I fell backwards as the board launched out from under me. I fell in front of the board (now how I fell in front of a 9' board when I was standing at the very back... I have no clue.... all I can say is that it was talent.) I fell on the board. I fell under the board. I FELL. I FELL ALOT.

And in the course of falling, I got my first battle scar.

And then, about 5 minutes later, I got my second wound from the treacherous ocean coral….. but this time, I wasn't even falling off the board or anything cool like that. I was just trying to get on the stupid thing when my foot slipped and hit some coral…….. talk about gay!

I finally caught my first wave.

(ok, so maybe it wasn't this exact one......)

I was picked up by the wave and from there, I decided that the ocean would no longer own me. I would own it. So, I grabbed hold of the wave like a mad man at the end of his pitiful rope. I lassoed it like a sea turtle and held on for dear life.

As my ride came to an end…. I showed off my incredible mainland heritage and began yelling in triumph. "I got it… I got it… It's on now, Baby!..... Woooo-hoooo….. Bring it… Let's go… I GOT YOU… I GOT YOU!!!!!!"

At this…. Shawn was just laughin at me and smiling in approval of my first wave.

We stayed out on the water for another 30-45 mins, and the ocean then resumed its battering and dominance over me.

But this I can now say, "I CAME, I SAW, I CONQUERED!"

Death to the jellyfish

February 19 2006

God calls us to get OUT of our comfort zone and get away from what's easy. You see after so much easiness, the life of easiness then become our norm. Then we become what I call (this is a Hodg-eism) a jellyfish. If you know anything about jellyfish, they don't really move. They just go with the current, with what's easy. They don't have to move b/c the life around them is so easy. The current takes them everywhere. They are so in there comfort zone that they don't even know what's going on around them.

I feel that we has Christian fall into this trap day in and day out. We get so consumed about ourselves and what's easy for us. We sit and hang out with people that are just like us, people that will just verify our opinions. We stay in our groups b/c it's easy and it's comfortable. And people can see that there's something different about us as Christians. However, just like a jellyfish people are afraid of us. They know that if they try to get to close too our little groups they might get stung.

We want things to be easy. I mean who doesn't? However, I've looked and I can't find in the Bible where says that Christian have it "easy". Actually it's pretty much the opposite. Now it's not always bad to be comfortable, God will put us in a comfortable place sometimes so that we can get our feet set on solid ground and get ready for the next step in his glory.

February 13 2006

On the 10th day of February of the 2006th year of our Lord Jesus, the greatest reunion of all time took place in the land of Maui, Hawaii. The players of this fateful journey where that of greatest kinship. They were known as Justin Hood, the Great Naked One, Hodg-E the Keeper of the White Moon in the Turtle Order, and Jeff The Red (but mostly white), the Great Diving Ninja.

When our long lost hero Justin Hood landed in the strange Valley Isle, there was much joy and excitement in the air. This day was foretold long ago, and now had come to pass. Upon seeing his two brethren, he exclaimed, "What the fat?!!!" (talk about some freaked out Hawaiians)

Hodg-E the Keeper of the White Moon in the Turtle Order, and Jeff, ran to meet him.

As they returned to the Fortress of Anexxation (aka…. Our house, the Annex), Justin's heart was lifted to the heavenly blessed music of Kenny Chesney with such lyrics depicting sexy tractors and clear water beaches.

And there in the sanctity of their lair, the Greatest Reunion of All Time began.

Justin surely believed that his journey would be a treacherous and challenging one indeed. Hence the full pack of clothes for one weekend.

The joy of the newly reunited brotherhood was electrifying.

The trio then headed to the local market (mall) to enjoy the modern architecture.

(Fast forward to next day.)

On the waking morn of the 11th day of February of the 2006th year of our Lord Jesus, our group of Heroes headed to the baptism of fellow believers.

There they found 2 of the fair Blondo sisters……

(ain't they so cute!.... Hodg-E)

And then Gerard, their good friend and worship leader, received his water Baptism to show his commitment to the Lord.

(that's what its all about…. Justin)

(Ok, I'm tired of writing in the King James Version… so here's the Message translation… Jeff)

After going to the Baptism, we went to the only Krispy Kreme in the entire state of Hawaii. Out of over 100 islands in the entire archipelago, we have the only one on Maui.

After five doughnuts and a pint of milk a piece… we pretty much cried like little girls because we couldn't take any more.

We even managed to get over the racism problem here on the islands.

We decided to go up into the West Maui Mountains (which many of you have seen in our pics) and Justin found the infamous "

Loke St." sign. Turd… that one's just for you.

We got to the top and goofed off while enjoying the vast wonder that is God's magnificent creation.

We went back home and got ready to go surfing with a guy from the church (Shawn).

As you can see…. Obviously when we go surfing, I, look like a ninja.

Well, the water was completely flat, so instead, we went diving.

We got some great pics of a school of Yellow Tailed Jacks.

And somehow, in the middle of all of God's beautiful under-water creation… Hodge and Justin found some time to spoon.

Not only did Hodge spoon with Justin, but he managed to somehow "ride" a turtle…. I can't lie, I was impressed….. (no pic here, since it's a $500 fine to touch one; much less ride it) Poor turtle.

From there, we went to Jack in the Box for dinner and headed back to the Annex to shower and clean up before that night.

We went to the beach with some of our local friends to have a bonfire…. Actually it was more of a campfire, but oh well.

What we had come to find out though, is that someone else had the idea, they just lit a car on fire instead….. that was interesting.

After the proper authorities had put out the fire, and had left…… we proceeded to have our own "bonfire".

Here's some great pics from the bonfire…. They've got everybody from Forrest to Jah to Tez to Dave to Gerard to Steve to Us.

The crazy thing was that we couldn't really leave until much later than we were going to stay because about 200 local high school kids decided that it'd be cool to come out to our particular spot to get hi. Talk about fun. YEA!!! So, that was annoying.

Spooning was promised to the phusebox world, and Justin and Hodge provided on the TWIN bed.

And when we woke up Saturday morning we were met with the nastiness of our room that can only come from the 3 of us being together. It is in this messy state that we write this blog to you now.

Sunday was cool… but we didn't take any pictures, so that's that.

This morning was kinda hard since we had to get up at around 5 O'clock to take Justin to the airport. However before we sent our best bud back to the big island we had to make one last stop at  Krispy Kreme (witch is pretty good at 6 in the morning)

We also found something that made us think of Jeff….we said this is Jeff before and after Hawaii!!!!

So this ended our O so great weekend. We hope that everyone has enjoyed this, "THE GREATEST REUNION OF ALL TIME" blog. Thanks for keeping up with it, and please comment freely.

Get Ready.....

Sad night for Hodg-E

February 09 2006

So this was a sad night for me, come on a journey with me so that I can share with you what happened

So I was making my why into the kitchen when it all started.

It was about 10pm and since my mom is pretty much the most freaken coolest mom EVER, she had sent me some snakes(aka snacks) this week. (This made me very happy since we can't really afford snakes(aka snacks) down here, I love my mama.) So knowing that I have snakes(snacks) just waiting on me I headed for our (mine and jeffs) own pantry.

And yes that said Missionaries Pantry (that's what they call us) its kinda funny!

Anyways, I opened up the "MISSIONARIES PANTRY" looking for…….MY "Chips Ahoy" Chewy cookies. You know the best kind of cookie ever, b/c there all chewy and soft :), yeah those…..and found

THEY WERE GONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was terrible, I was so confused.

And that's when it hit me…..they were really gone.

But thenI remembered that tonight was youth group night. and jeff and I just so happen to live in the church.( so the youth room is about 3 steps from our room and the kitchen. The youth also always eats after they are done with church for the night…) So I new if I probably looked around I would find some evidence……. and then a brake through….

But it was to late

So who did this? Why was this done? These are question that must be and will be answered soon. more to come in the next few days, But for now it is a sad night for Hodg-E

Hawaiian Quiz

February 02 2006

Ok guys… here’s the challenge for ya… The locals here in Maui (as well as the other islands) have their own dialect called “Pigeon”. Pigeon is basically a mixture of English and Gibberish………. So, your quiz is to see if you can translate the following saying. Justin and Leslie are disqualified to this contest, b/c all they have to do is get a local to translate it for them. (sorry guys) Also, if you happen to have lived in Hawaii for any good length of time, you need not apply.

Ok… Here goes…

What kine dis?

Eh so what u guys like go beach & small kine swim and den go grind aftah? When u guys like go? I stay bored la dat… We go bu. Shoots den! Shpoock ya latahz.

Thank you to all of the Captain Obvious on Phusebox

January 30 2006

It has been brought to my attention lately by a few of my fellow phuseboxers that I have a lack of melanin... a.k.a. I am not tan.... or as others would want to put.... I'm very white...... thank you for the epiphany that I have never been able to quite grasp as I look in the mirror for myself. Funny, I've never been told that I'm extremely white... oh wait, yes i have, in fact, even by a homeless guy. So, for all of those out there who would like to comment on my lack of color, please feel free to let it all go on this post. Please hold nothing back so that we can move on from here.

Eph. 4:29,

(this is not an attack to anyone's comment, unless it would be considered to be to the original comment left on the "Great Saturday" blog)

Great Saturday

January 30 2006

What a Great Saturday. We woke up around 11!!!!!!!!!!!!(since we have to be up everyday by 8 that’s nice for us.) After a lot of doing nothing Jeff and I both wanted to go hiking up this trail that we had heard of. So off we went. We now had a mission….to get to the top so we could just get away from everything and be our selves. It was only around a 20min drive to get to the trail, so it wasn’t that far away. But none the less we are still idiots where every we be.

So once we got there we saw where we thought we were going…. you see where jeff is pointing, yeah that’s only half way….we found this out after we got there  :)

So we got started on our mission…yea it was a little up hilly but we are men or something like that….

And let me just say wow…. So amazing….just looking around was breath taking.

But we would not be stop so we push on….

Only stopping to take random pictures….

And then finally after around a two hour hike we made it to the top. And we could finally be our selves and just kick back…….

ok….so maybe this is more like it…..

dwuaaaaaa.......so after being complete idiots once again, we looked around to see Gods beauty being unveiled to us.

Dang!!! Our God made all of this. My God put this in place….It was so amazing seeing his arte work. It was very nice to be that high up away from everything. Only hearing Gods voice…..yeah preatty cool

And if you will notices on the last picture we were up in the clouds…..yeah….it was great.

Hope you enjoyed our Saturday b/c we sure did!!!! Be on the look out for our Saturday night coming up next, yeah our first BEACH BONFIRE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Doctors cost to much in Hawaii...

January 28 2006

They cost to much down here…….

Yeah, so everyone knows Dr. Pepper right?

Yeah sure you do. Great Doctor if I do say so myself. One of my favorites. Well anyways as we know Doctors can cost a lot, and everyone can’t afford “Dr.Pepper” even if he is the best. So what do we do, well I will tell you what we do, we go to his brother……….Dr. Thunder

The Doctor you can always get to. He doesn’t cost anywhere near what his brother Dr. Pepper does. But he’s not as good……

Well being down here in the islands, we don’t really have those Doctors. (and if you could find them there is no way you could afford them)But, its ok for those of you worrying about me right now……because I have found someone who can cur my sickness it’s there LONG LOST COUIN…….

It’s Dr. Skipper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is so much better, I can get six appointments for only one dollar!!!!! He is highly favored among the Hawaii-boys

Ok so this was pretty much the worst post I have ever done. But when I saw this Dr. Skipper can…….O I lost it. so sorry if ya’ll didn’t get the same thing out of it as I did but I thought I was funny!

January 24 2006

So I was given a job by a woman that I’m kinda working for on campus the other day. The job was very easy but some how I found a way to get confessed. Anyways the job was simply to put some stuff up about the clubs here on campus. She has some boards that have not been updated in about 4 years…. So she asked if I would make them look better…..pretty much do what ever I wanted to. So I took the job! And this was what I had to work with

So I got started and went to the cool room that I get to use…..yeah the only problem with it was…..well no one was there…see I guess ppl don’t really work on a Monday, I was alone for 5 hours…….:(

Then I was getting ready to make some copies….and that’s when I found him……I call him the BEAST!!!!!!.

This thing has more bottins then a airplane

So trying to not get confessed I looked for some instruction…..

only to be set somewhere else….

So then I found them…..

Please someone take a sec and try to understand what the fat I was supposed to have done……codes and numbers and names…….. hodg-e doesnt do that..

But after some time of fighting with the Beast……yeah I moved to a much smaller copier  on the other side of the room. Anyways all in all the day came together…and this was the end product……

Not exactly what I wanted but I was happy……just another day in Hawaii. Aloha.

January 23 2006

Hey, so this is kinda long…. But stick with it. If you’re just too tired (lazy) to read it all, just look at the pictures and leave us something.

So, after much prayer and hard work, blood, sweat, and tears (ok, so not so much blood, sweat, and tears… but u know) we finally had our first meeting of Critical Mass. We wanted to let all of ya’ll in on how it went. And one word sums it all up…… DANG!!! (see previous blog).

So here’s the basic run down of what happened….

We acquired the “Game Room” from MCC to hold our meetings every Thurs. Now, when we say “Game Room” we mean that its got one ping pong table that’s unusable and has several chairs to take up any kind of space that would supposedly be used for fun… hence the name “Game Room”.

Hodge and I found out that this is what it takes to pull off a meeting here in HI. (p.s. We now have a new found love for the glorious men and women who make up the AO tech team…… aka we suck at anything having to deal with technology outside of phusebox) If ya’ll knew the trouble that it took to find a flippin projector screen on the island of Maui, you’d understand our new found adoration. (as u can tell, I (Hodge) am not writing this)

Here’s the fruits of our labor….. isn’t it glorious (comm’on through me a figgin bone here) It’s no AO, but it sure is CM………….lol.

Yay… our first slide show (is it supposed to take an entire day to make one of these?)

We had a 15 minute game lined up that ended up lasting all of about 3 mins. But, here’s the real beauty of this pic…. We had come with the full expectation of having possibly 3-5 other people there besides ourselves. (why do we doubt God’s power?) As you can see, there were many more than that. In all, there were 19 other people there besides Hodge and I. This is ridiculous for a commuter campus of 2800… DANG! We had almost 2% of the entire college there (that’s huge… that relates to AO having roughly 460 people at their first meeting ever) PRAISE GOD!!! Cause we know that it had absolutely nothing to do with us, but only by His grace. It only get’s better from here though.

And now we come to the Heart of Worship…..

It was amazing how the Lord opened our eyes to the real situation at hand… there are people here that are in love with our Savior, Jesus Christ. We were completely astounded on how much the Lord moved in our very first meeting. The spirit of the room was electrifying and left both of us in udder amazement. There are no words to express how thankful we were to the Lord for his mercy and grace to us on Thursday night. HOW GREAT THOU ART!!!!!!!!!

Yay… I get to speak……

Did I really get to speak about the glory of our Lord? How freakin cool is that?

Hey, guess what, Hodge got to speak too…….. YAY!!!!

And he did a wonderful job… bless him Jesus (church lady voice).

So, what does this all mean? What’s it all about college student of 2006? The reality is…..We have been astounded by the goodness and mercy of the Lord Christ Jesus. We find ourselves blessed to be called children of the Living God, and even more fortunate to be able to spread His name and glory. We know that ya’ll have been prayin for us as we’ve been here, and that a lot of people were prayin this last Thursday. You can’t quite understand how necessary that is until you’re here in our positions. So, all that’s to say, thanks. Ya’ll mean a lot to us, and we can’t wait to get back home when its our time.

-Jeff and Hodg-E

January 16 2006
Ok so if you know me this should be funny
so last night at church, our pastor was talking about Jesus and how great and wonderful he is. At the end he stop, and you could tell he was seaching for a word. So to describe how great and wonderful Christ is.....he said "well as they say in TN......DANG!" and everyone just lost it,
See jeff and i are changing the islands!!!!!!!!

mama hodge

January 14 2006

p.s mama hodge has a phusebox
