Question 5: Give me Privacy or Give Me Death?
November 14 2006
QUESTION 5:
How important is privacy to you when you are posting a blog entry, uploading photos, sharing content with friends, etc?
and an extra 20 points goes to the first person that can identify the person that said, "Give me liberty or give me death..."

at this point in the development of phusebox, i don't worry at all about who checks out my phusebox content. as phusebox develops, however, i do believe that security measures restricting access should at least be available to users. As for how that would relate to content appearing on the index page, maybe there should be an option for the user to be able to restrict their content appearing on the main page. i don't think phusebox should leave open the ability to be used as a tool by employers or the media to obtain information, so keeping out non-phusers may be an option.

Privacy would be great, but we have to be realistic, this is the internet. If you put something on the internet, you are putting it out there for the world to see.

i don't think security is very important. that's half the fun, in my opinion: surfing phusebox to see what people have to say. i have wanted to make protected posts a few times, where only a few people could see them, but i think security to the point of not being able to see the person's page or something would be a little extreme. especially, like ben said, at this stage in the development.

I think privacy is something to consider. that's one thing that I like about myspace, I can make some posts private. on here, I feel like the conservative nature of the people that are members on phusebox, I would like to be able to make some of the things I say private.

I really don't mind people looking at my stuff that I put up. And I don't get bonus points for Patrick Henry...

Sir Patrick Hentry stated that during the American Revolution. But ut seems that someone beat me to the question....anyway...privacy isn't a big deal for me Nathan...unless you count the personal messages...

Personally, I would like more privacy, but I can't think of any specific ways I would like that at privacy at this very moment seeing as my brain is fried quite a bit. And Patrick Henry said "give me liberty, or give me death". Though I'm sure everyone else probably already answered that.

I'm embarrassed to confess that I didn't know that was a Patrick Henry quote. :/
As for privacy, it would be more of an issue if this was my only blogging site. As things stand, if I want only certain people to know something, I will use my livejournal or send an email. Myspace is bad with privacy because you can tell when your friend has made an entry but they don't want you to see it. At least with a livejournal, if someone posts a secret, it isn't there to taunt people that aren't special enough to know. :) So I am content with the level of privacy that phusebox offers. :)

it was definitely Al Gore...he's quite original you know....haha...he invented pants. privacy isn't all that important to me...unless of course you mean when it comes to creepy internet predators. i don't know if you could control that. hey, i know....you should make a little box on the profile page that says "Are you a creepy internet predator? Check yes or no". that would be awesome.

Thanks for the comment! And I really do like privacy with my posts......sometimes I wish I could let only certain people read it but then you would be too much like xanga. I love your Phusebox just the way it is.....except music would be nice. haha. :-P
