Bikinis

January 26 2007

This is just something on my mind... Humor me.

If I were to go out in public in a bra and panties I would be arrested. If I were to go out in public in a bikini, it would be fine (well, not ME in one, per se...). Discuss.

If you go somewhere to swin in a bikini and it's the proper season, I think it's fine. But if you tramp around town in one, I may have to pound some sense into you...

I've thought the same thing myself... even as far as one piece suits.. if I wore underwear that was like a one piece it would be the same thing... yet it is completely adn totally acceptable... even modest... hmmmm?

Even though the clothing might be similar, the ideas behind the clothing are different. One is meant for swimming, so no one thinks much about it. Yes, It's still something that guys have to purposely look away from, but it's still not the same as underwear. The idea of underwear is much more scandalous. Even though they cover the same amount of skin, one is meant for public display and the other is private. I make sense in my head.... I wonder if I make sense to you all.

makes sense to me. a woman's underwear is not meant for a man to see. therefore, when a woman goes flaunting it, it's either considered incredibly slutty, or hot. that depends on the man and the woman. a bathing suit, on the other hand is made to be modest-er-ish... you know what i mean. and, as paul said, the ideas behind them are completely different. a bikini top, while possibly cut to the same measurements (i wouldn't know) as a bra, is NOT the same as a bra... or at least not in a guy's mind

it's all about how the guy can think about it, and I believe that might be a cultural thing. If we saw women in their under wear as much as swimsuits, they'd be equally... scandelous or not. I mean, bikini's are still immodest in my opinion, but underwear wouldn't be any worse were it not for the fact we've grown up with that "idea" in our heads. As it stands now, seeing a girl in her underwear, automatically takes a guy's mind further than swim suits.

Stacy - you are precisely correct .. what is the difference? Except in people's head. As for Chris and Paul's answer ... obviously they've never been married. swimsuits can be far more revealing than bra/panties ...and they do not necessarily cover the same areas ... and both ARE to be seen (in the right circumstances) ....

I wanna know why guys swim suits are modest and comfortable and don't require constant adjustments while girls swim suits, one piece, bikini, or any variety are made to show as much skin as the girl can be comfortable showing and are NEVER made for comfort. I vote girls wear guys swim trunks and a modest swim suit top and quit worrying about the guys either way!

see i think that underwear is more covering anyway. and now a days.. some underwear look like swim suits. some of the bikinis you see on the beach now days might as well be the long hair and maple leave the picture bibles show eve as wearing. i really don't see how one is better than the other in the sense that underwear is just that.. wearing under the clothes. so that's why it's just not accpetable. whatever. haha.
