Dressing up...

December 17 2006
Some people like to dress up just for the sake of getting all dressed up.  Not me.  Black jeans is about as dressed up as I'm getting these days.

Chris and Hooper even dress up to play DDR.  It's addictive you know.  DDR! Not dressing up! so silly...

Fried Turkey

November 23 2006
We fried our first Turkey this year!  Worked out nicely.  Josh engineered the thawing process so the water stayed at an almost constant temperature so we wouldn't be poisioned by our gobbler :o)  Josh and Liz had just seen a guy on TV go into detail as to how to "brine" turkey (basically that's soaking it in a lot of cold water with salt and brown sugar dissolved in it).  Liz found me his recipe on line and then helped me do that part.  A couple of days later (thawing and brining take lots of hours) Randy fried our 2 turkeys for Thanksgiving.   Can't wait!  HAPPY THANKSGIVING EVERYONE!

Broken hearts are what give us
strength and understanding and compassion.
A heart never broken is pristine and
sterile and has most assuredly never known the joy of loving someone enough to feel great pain when they are gone.

Help?

November 02 2006
Last night at church Pastor Gus meant to announce a clean up day but forgot.  The church didn't look bad last night but ya'll didn't see the modulars and classrooms!  They're a mess!  Pastors Kenny and Gus are asking anyone who can to come to the church this afternoon at 4:30 to help clean up and get everything back in order for Sunday.  They can't do it alone and with some help it can all be done in an hour or two!  I know everyone is exhausted but if you can spare an hour and a little more energy please be at the church at 4:30!

Huh! Maybe I really am strange...

Now that you mention it...

Remind me to never do that again!

October 10 2006
It's been a few since I phused and when I logged in tonight I had something like 52 entries to read!  Ugh! My eyeballs are tired!

Here's my summary of what I read.
Some people think if no one posts no one cares.  Not so!  I read.  I care.  I just don't usually feel the need to reply.  I think this is supposed to be about sharing yourself not trying to drag everybody into your posts!

Jamie Crabtree makes amazing comments.  She's funny and practical.  But watch out for her right hook!

I don't think Chris' response to Jessica's comment about her lips was meant as it sounded.

Teenagers can't decide how to feel. Ever!

Adults usually feel like they need to advise when they comment.

Phuse box is a great was to keep tabs on how lots of people are doing in general. And it's fun.

Those are my tiny little opinions.

Have a nice life!

Hi there!

September 05 2006
For a person who never seems to run out of things to say I don't seem to say much on phusebox do I?  Maybe I just don't like to talk about myself.  Maybe my life just isn't that interesting... My grandson, Daniel, will be a year old next Saturday.  Paul will be 18 on Friday.  I don't feel old until I think about that...

I am a VERY blessed lady.  Daniel is perfect and precious and I'm so proud of Josh and Liz for the fine parents they are to him.  I'm proud of all my kids (yes, all 50 or so of you).  Yes, I'm blessed.  Love you all~

Let's do this in Orlando!

Devo

July 10 2006
For those who missed the cookout last Friday I thought I'd post the little story I used for the devo.  Girls, don't get so upset about her hair loss that you don't get the point!  eesh...

ATTITUDE

There once was a woman who woke up one morning, looked
in the mirror, and noticed she had only three hairs on her
head.

"Well," she said, "I think I'll braid my hair today." So she
did and she had a wonderful day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the
mirror and saw that she had only two hairs on her head.

"H-M-M, " she
said, "I think I'll part my hair down the middle today." So she did and she
had a grand day.

The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and
noticed that she had only one hair on her head.

"Well," she said,
"Today I'm going to wear my hair in a pony tail." So she did and she had a
fun, fun day.

);
D(["ce"]);
//-->The next day she woke up, looked in the mirror and noticed
that there wasn't a single hair on her head.

"YEAH!" she exclaimed,
"I don't have to fix my hair today!"

Attitude is everything.

Tomorrow morning is the pancake breakfast at Chili's.  All Ya'll who are going to Orlando need to be there at 7 AM to help take tickets and serve and clean up and stuff.  If ya'll don't show up and only a few end up doing all the work I'm.. gonna... um.... do something mean!  I'll have to think about that one but you should be very nervous!  See you at 7 AM!

What's new?

June 23 2006
Nothing.  But that's okay.  I do so love my rut.  I love routine.  I like predictable.  I enjoy knowing what to expect.  I'm not much on surprises.  Even great ones.  Major surprises throw me into a tailspin!  I get dizzy just thinking about it. whirrrr...........

I enjoy variation but I like knowing about things in advance and having a chance to process and plan.  I know, you're thinking it's just because I'm old.  NOT!  I was the same when I was a teenager.  Even with my love for the predictable I don't think I've ever been called boring...

Have a peaceful, enjoyable day everyone.  I'm off to my usual job at my usual place at my usual time...

See ya when I usually see ya!

May 17 2006

Hey! Ya'll remember Chris Rini?  We called him Florida.  Well, I got an e-mail from him today and told him I'd pass it along.  I sent him the link to phusebox and invited him to get set up so everyone could be in touch.  Here's his e-mail address and his message for you all.

mini vacation

May 11 2006
What a week!  It's been a bit hectic.  Maybe it's just me but things seem to have piled up a bit and I don't handle that too well.  When there are several things that need to be done at the same time I seem to go into overload mode and sort of freak out.  I CAN'T HANDLE THE PRESSURE!!!!

So how am I gonna handle it?  I'm going out of town!  Randy is teaching a motorcycle safety class in Cookeville this weekend.  It just so happens that 3 of my most favorite people live there and are available this weekend.  So...

Randy and I are going over on the motorcycle on Friday and won't be back until Sunday evening.  Randy will work and I will play - with my grandson!  He's... well... practically perfect in every way!  I do love that little boy!  I'm pretty crazy about his parents too of course.  We're gonna hang out and piddle around and talk baby talk and who knows what else.

Yes, it stresses me a bit to leave town with knee deep grass in my yard and a dirty house and graduation plans to think about but I console myself by remembering that it'll ALL be here waiting for me when I get back.  ugh.

That's okay - it'll get done - or it won't.  Some things are more important than a clean house and a nicely kept yard.  This is one of them!  Time with people I love and some rest and relaxation rate high on my list of important things.

Ya'll have a fantastic weekend!  I sure plan to!!!

smooches~

Why so critical?

May 08 2006
Why are people so critical?  I'm not just talking about other people.  It's me too!  Why do we criticize each other?  Why do we point out other people's failings?  Why do we put other people down?  How totally arrogant is that???

Does it make us feel superior?  Does it make people like us more? Does it in some way make us feel better?

It's aweful and I'm working on not doing it!

If anyone reads this and thinks I'm talking about you in particular - I'm not.  I've just been really noticing it all around for a while now and I don't want to be like that.  This isn't directed at anyone in particular!!!

Hooray!!!

April 27 2006
The Dessert Theater last night was a huge success!  All 12 of the Fine Arts entries went GREAT!  Congratualtions to you all!!!  The silent auction (desserts) raised almost $1,000 and we received just over $1,000 in the offering!!!  I can't remember EVER making $2,000 on ANY fundraiser we've ever had.

Mrs. Beth O'Berry and Mrs. Debi Crabtree are AWESOME!  They did so much to make it happen!  Beth has a grown a phone where her ear used to be!!!

The techies did a great job too - even with little practice and late notice!  Thanks Chris (J.), Zay, Ken, Kenny and Ryan (most of which will never see this).  Ya'll thank them when you see them!  Without our techies we'd look and sound lame!

See you all in Franklin Friday!  I'm going over early to help with registration so Randy's taking me on the motorcycle!  :o)

Not ready for Monday

April 24 2006
I need more weekend.  I'm not done with this one yet.  I had lots of fun with people I love being with but I didn't get much of my never ending "to do" list done.  I guess I need to pretend to be an adult on occasion and take care of business.  When I'm bad like that Randy has to come home from a LONG weekend of teaching and do stuff I should/could have done. He never says a word but I feel really guilty!

I did get Beka some black pants for youth choir, I bought groceries, and cooked a meal (the oreos and milk meal for 5 doesn't count!), did some laundry, cleaned the kitchen, had youth choir practice, oh! and made a pair of slacks for me. I still left an aweful lot undone.

I'm SOOO ashamed!!! Okay, I'm over it!  I don't have time to waste beating myself up for what I didn't do.  As a matter of fact I could be doing something productive right now but No! I checking phusebox!  Okay - gotta go make sandwiches for lunches.

When does life get simpler?  Calmer?  Quieter? Hmmm.....

Just dreaming...

April 13 2006
If you could spend a whole day doing EXACTLY what you want to do, instead of what you have to or should do, what would you do?

I'd sleep late.  Then I'd get dressed in something sloppy and comfortable and poke around the house drinking coffee and checking my e-mails and phusebox.  Then I'd wander outside and do some yard work  Plant, mow, cut limbs, rake, clean out the pond - that kind of stuff.  Then I'd sweet talk Randy into taking me for a nice long motorcycle ride on a curvy road in the country.  Then I'd take a long hot bath and read my book until the water started getting cold.  After that I'd crash in front of the TV with whoever happened to be around and spend the rest of the evening hanging out with the people I love.

Hmmm... sounds FABULOUS!  Won't happen this weekend but I'm off work on Monday and there's next weekend... I'll have to work on a plan!
