Tom Brokaw said this in a recent comencment speech:

"What, you may be asking yourself this morning, is this real life all about? Ladies and gentlemen of the Class of 2005 at Dartmouth, it's not college—it's not high school. Real life is junior high.

The world you're about to enter is filled with adolescent pettiness, pubescent rivalries, the insecurities of 13-year-olds and the false bravado of 14-year-olds. Forty years from now, I guarantee it, you'll still be making silly mistakes, you'll have a temper tantrum, you'll have your feelings hurt for some trivial slight, you'll say something dumb and at least once a week you'll wonder, "Will I ever grow up?"

You can change that. In pursuit of passions, always be young. In your relationship with others, always be a grown-up."

Good stuff.

of coarse peter pan had the right idea. well actually, it wasnt his fault or idea to not grow up, it happened to him by accident. but anyways, yes it is the best idea. growing up and becoming an adult are two totally different things. being a grown up just means your an older person with experience and insight. an adult is a person who is so caught up in the rules and regulations of life that they forget the important things and the lessons they learned, and what it was like being a not-quite-grownup. for example, ms. D here, she is a perfect example. she's an old guy [haha] and she has a lot of smarts and gives good advice, cuz she's been there, but she remember's how life can be as a teenager, and believe me, she has her moments of childish immaturity, that is, no matter what some ppl say, a must in life. [sorry if my grammar is killin ya elizabeth]. i love you so much ms. D, have fun on your trip to the big NY. the only traveling i'll be doing for a while is down to birmingham and back, on friday. [o how fun] X_X sitting in the car all day with my family. in a tight enclosed space strapped in, where you can't get away from them....rats. well i have to go to bed. love love, the Sydster *}
