THE SNEEZE
July 05 2006
They
walked in tandem, each of the ninety-two students filing into the
already crowded auditorium. With rich maroon gowns flowing and the
traditional caps, they looked almost as grown up as they felt. Dads
swallowed hard behind broad smiles, and Moms freely brushed away tears.
This class would not pray during the commencements - not by choice, but
because of a recent court Ruling prohibiting it.
The
principal and several students were careful to stay within the
guidelines allowed by the ruling. They gave inspirational and
challenging speeches, but no one mentioned divine guidance and no one
asked for blessings on the graduates or their families. The speeches
were nice, but they were routine.....until the final speech received a
standing ovation.
A solitary student walked proudly to
the microphone. He stood still and silent for just a moment, and then,
it happened. All 92 students, every single one of them, suddenly
SNEEZED!! The student on stage simply looked at the audience and said,
"GOD BLESS YOU, each and every one of you!" And he walked off stage...
The
audience exploded into applause. The graduating class found a unique
way to invoke God's blessing on their future with or without the
court's approval.

Changes

Changes
By: John Ogden, Sr.
He will
transform the body of our humble condition into the likeness of His glorious
body, by the power that enables Him to subject everything to Himself.
Philippians 3:21
We cannot become what we need to be by remaining what we are. If we only do
what we have always done, we will only be what we have always been. If we
are to grow in our relationship with God then we are the ones who must grow
and change. God is unchanging. We are the ones who will grow and produce change
as we follow Him.
Are you growing in your Christian walk? Look back over the past 5 years of
your walk with Christ. Have you changed? Are you changing today? A fundamental
element of the Christian experience is change, we are always changing. We
are daily entering into His presence and being changed more and more into
His likeness. If we are not changing, then we are not growing. If we are not
growing then we are not living. Christ came that we might have life and have
it to the fullest. The full life which Christ desires each of us to have is
a life that is totally saturated in Him. It is a life that is constantly expanding,
constantly growing, constantly striving for more and more of God.
Seek the presence of the Lord today. Inquire of the Father where you need
to be changed, how you need to grow. Then surrender to His process!
This is the latest CMA on-line devotion. Any comments?

Man Can't, God Can
March 27 2006
When
he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him. (Mark 5:6)
This setting of scripture describes the account of a man called Legion, which
is recorded in Mark 5:1-20. You may want to read the entire setting of scripture.
Here we see the story of a man that could not help himself, nor could the
wisdom and best intentions of the leaders (doctors, lawyers, priests, etc.)
in his hometown. When the leaders had done all that they could, they released
him and left him in hopelessness to dwell in the tombs of the dead. Many people
today are living among the dead with no hope. With man, there is no hope;
with God, there is always hope and deliverance.
As the story unfolds, we see Legion running to Jesus and falling down to worship
Him. Then the bondage of the world, both physical and spiritual, took control
of him, and he could not do what he desired to do. Jesus broke the bondage
and set Legion free as we see Legion in verse 15 clothed and in his right
mind.
You may be at your wits end in circumstances and situations. You may feel
as if you cannot go on. You may feel that your situation is hopeless. The
doctors may have given you a bad report. May I remind you that there is hope
in Jesus! I challenge you to do as Legion did: fall down, give the circumstances
and the situations to Him, and ask Him to do the impossible. In Him there
is hope.

Stuff to think about (When you're bored)
March 22 2006
Here are a few things to think about that you probably have
never
thought about;
Can you cry under water?
How important does a person have to be before they are considered
assassinated instead of just murdered?
Why do you have to "put your two cents in".. . but it's only a
"penny for your thoughts"? Where's that extra penny going to?
Once you're in heaven, do you get stuck wearing the clothes you were
buried in for eternity?
Why does a round pizza come in a square box?
What disease did cured ham actually have?
How is it that we put man on the moon before we figured out it would
be a good idea to put wheels on luggage?
Why is it that people say they "slept like a baby" when babies wake
up
like every two hours?
If a deaf person has to go to court, is it still called a hearing?
Why are you IN a movie, but you're ON TV?
Why do people pay to go up tall buildings and then put money in
binoculars to look at things on the ground?
Why do toasters always have a setting that burns the toast to a
horrible crisp, which no decent human being would eat?
If Jimmy cracks corn and no one cares, why is there a stupid song
about him?
Can a hearse carrying a corpse drive in the carpool lane?

If the professor on Gilligan's Island can make
a radio out of a
coconut, why can't he fix a hole in a boat?
Why does Goofy stand correct while Pluto remains on all fours?
They're both dogs!
If Wiley E. Coyote had enough money to buy all that ACME stuff, why didn't he just
buy dinner?
If corn oil is made from corn, and vegetable oil is made from
vegetables, what is baby oil made from?
If electricity comes from electrons, does morality come from morons?
Did you ever notice that when you blow in a dog's face, he gets mad at
you, but when you take him for a car ride; he sticks his head out the
window?
Do you ever wonder why you read this blog in the first place?

Real
Stories of the Non-Technical (from comedy central)
I called a company and asked to speak to Bob. The
person who answered said, "Bob is on vacation. Would you like to
hold?"
I worked with an individual who plugged their power strip back into itself
and for the life of them could not understand why their computer would not turn
on.
"Do you know anything about this fax-machine?"
"A little. What's wrong?"
"Well, I sent a fax, and the recipient called back to say all she
received was a cover-sheet and a blank page. I tried it again, and the same
thing happened."
"How did you load the sheet?"
"It's a pretty sensitive memo, and I didn't want anyone else to read it
by accident. So I folded it so only the recipient could open it and read
it."
I recently saw a distraught young lady weeping beside her car. "Do you
need some help?" I asked.
"I knew I should have replaced the battery in this remote control door
unlocker. Now I can't get into my car. Do you think that store would have a
battery for this?"
"Hmmm, I dunno. Do you have an alarm, too?" I asked.
"No, just this remote," she answered, handing it and the car keys
to me. As I took the keys and manually unlocked the door, I said, "Why don't
you drive over there and check about the batteries? It's a long walk."

escape the corruption
March 13 2006
us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of
him who called us by his own glory and goodness. 4Through
these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that
through them you may participate in the divine nature and escape the
corruption in the world caused by evil desires.
5For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; 6and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; 7and to godliness, brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness, love. 8For
if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep
you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our
Lord Jesus Christ. 9But if anyone does not have them, he is nearsighted and blind, and has forgotten that he has been cleansed from his past sins.
10Therefore,
my brothers, be all the more eager to make your calling and election
sure. For if you do these things, you will never fall, 11and you will receive a rich welcome into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Where Are You?
March 06 2006
This is something God gave me over the past few days. I think He wants me to share it with you. Someone out there needs it.
Genesis 3
1Now (A)the serpent was more crafty than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made. And he said to the woman, "Indeed, has God said, 'You shall not eat from any tree of the garden'?" 2The woman said to the serpent, "(B)From the fruit of the trees of the garden we may eat; 3but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, 'You shall not eat from it or touch it, or you will die.'" 4(C)The serpent said to the woman, "You surely will not die! 5"For God knows that in the day you eat from it your eyes will be opened, and (D)you will be like God, knowing good and evil." 6(E)When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. 7Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they (F)knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings. 8They heard the sound of (G)the
LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, (H)and
the man and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.
9Then the LORD God called to the man, and said to him, "(I)Where
are you?"
Is the God we serve not all knowing? Is He not present everywhere? Is He not all powerful? Why then would He ask Adam, "Where are you?"?
Could it have been such a good hiding place that God didn't know? Surely God could see him even if there were trees in the way. Could it be that God was checking to see if Adam would answer when He called?
Could it be that God was testing to see if Adam would lie? Or could it be that Adam was actually hidden by his sin?
He was naked, so he hid himself. Wasn't he naked before? Why
was it necessary to hide now? I think that the sin Adam committed made him know he was naked. Was it because his sin exposed him to God? No, I think he was afraid because his sin was exposed to God. God said "Do not"' and Adam did anyway. He knew that he sinned. He knew that God would be angry. He knew that he messed up, and he was trying to hide it from God.
What about you? Are you trying to hide your sin from God?
Are you wondering where God is? Here's a hint: God hasn't moved. If you can't find Him, maybe you have moved. Maybe your sin is hiding you from His sight.
I know one thing.
If God can't find you because your sin is hiding you from
His sight, He is asking, "Where are you?" Don't be afraid. Answer Him. Confess your sins to Him and let Him forgive you. Allow Him to see you again. You won't be sorry. He is a God of Grace.
