Pride or Fear

November 02 2006

Over
the past several months, I have noticed that most people who are going through a rough time, even if they will tell about it, refuse to ask for or accept help from others. I wonder if this is from a fear of needing help, or a fear of being rejected, or just pride getting in the way.

Just thinking out loud.

I think your thoughts are true. Or at least in my case....sometimes I just don't know how to ask for help and so I try to do it on my own. And then end up worse off in the end because they were situations where I couldn't do it on my own. Or sometimes I just run away altogether....

Maybe they just know that once you let people in on things it hurts when either by pulling or pushing they move. Maybe it's easier to be by yourself than to lose people...

So far it sounds like fear. Fear of being yourself, or fear of rejection. Let me make another observation: I think we have lost, or forgotten the meaning of TRUE FRIENDSHIP. When we cannot trust our friends to do what is right, or to be there for us when we need them, are they really our friends?

Meagan, I am almost positive that others at FWC would agree with me when I say that you are still "family".
