I don't agree with dogfighting, but I believe people have a right to do what they will with their property.

For all of you who didn't get the memo, I don't condone dogfighting, cockfighting, or any other kind of forced animal fighting.  But I am a libertarian, so by definition, I believe that less government is better.  That would naturally extend to animal rights laws.  If an animal has the status of "property", it's the owner's rights to do with that property as they wish.  The lamp example is not meant to discount the suffering capacity of animals, but to explain a similar scenario in which property can be misused in a similar moral infraction and our natural reaction.  The government shouldn't legislate a particular brand of morality.

For anyone who strongly disagrees, I'd invite to go to youtube and watch "Meet Your Meat".  Now, if PETA were in charge, what would the result be based on moral legislation?

I'm not into PETA. I've seen "Meet Your Meat." Animals are more than just property. Think about that for a second, because you seem to be missing it. Animals are more than just property. Just kind of repeat it to yourself throughout the day until you think you understand what it means.

I am not debating with you because I think you condone the fighting of animals. I am debating with you because you seem to think that animals can't feel and that torturing them is okay because they are just property. You go in circles saying that you mean one thing the first time and now say that you meant another. For example, what you say here about your lamp analogy, "The lamp example is not meant to discount the suffering capacity of animals, but to explain a similar scenario in which property can be misused in a similar moral infraction and our natural reaction," is not what you seemed to have meant in your first post on the subject of Michael Vick through your libertarian view. In fact, you don't discuss either of the points in the above quote. This debate is simply a waste of time because you aren't even debating. You seem to be ignoring everything that is said from the opposing side and continuing to rant about things you don't appear to be knowledgable about. In your first post, you come across as someone who thinks that animals are just property and the owners have every right to torture and ultimately kill them is they so choose, yet in this post here, you come across as someone who doesn't condone the torturing or killing of animals and that it is wrong. You need to stop conforming to others thoughts when they challenge you on something that you have posted and stick by what you originally say.
