Aright so i know I have already writen today but I need any advice I can get on this.... I am doing a sermon in my communicating the gospel class and I have been given the text Mark 1:40-45. So I was wondering if yall had any good illustrations, insights, or just somthing small that I might could use. Anything that just jumps out to you or is odd to you could be helpful too. Basicly all that said, anything yall say will be helpful. If you nothing comes to you, no big deal. Thanks for the input. Here is the verses:
Mark 1:40-45

40 A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, "If you are willing, you can make me clean."

41 Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. "I am willing," he said. "Be clean!" 42 Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured.

43 Jesus sent him away at once with a strong warning: 44 "See that you don't tell this to anyone. But go, show yourself to the priest and offer the sacrifices that Moses commanded for your cleansing, as a testimony to them." 45 Instead he went out and began to talk freely, spreading the news. As a result, Jesus could no longer enter a town openly but stayed outside in lonely places. Yet the people still came to him from everywhere.
(from New International Version)

Thanks

I think it's interesting how the leper appeared to Jesus in a desperate state, was healed, and then turned around and ignored his command to him. It's night he saw Jesus as Santa Claus, and not as God's Son, an authority to be obeyed. Anyhow, that's my two cents.

thats funny that you asked that. a long time ago i was reading and studying this story and i had some great insight on it and have been looking for a place to talk about what God showed me through it and here it is: its a symbol for Christ's love and compassion for us. but i find it ironic (and i'm sure Christ did too) that the lepor would ask the Creator of all and Savior of our sins if he was willing. Christ has always been willing, no questions asked. also, that fact that Christ reached out and touched the man. a shocker, for one, because the man was unclean and disgusting and ill. but when He could just as easily have said "Be clean" and the man would be clean or even have thought the words and the man would have been healed. but that fact that Christ would take the time to stop and shower this man with his compassion. and im sure there were people around thinking he does not deserve what Christ has to offer. and thats how we judgemental Christians are today. "those people dont deserve Him, but i sure do" that story is a symbol of our salvation today. we ask God, when you ae ready please come into my life and make me clean and He does so. and He's always been ready and willing. and He reaches out and cleans us. and then we get the gift of a new life just like the lepor did. free of sin and full of Christ's love. and all he asks in return is to go out and tell people what has happened in our walks. i hope that helps. _kt

I have heard that in this passage Christ told the leper to go to the priest without telling anyone of the miracle because it was early in his ministry and it was not time for great multitudes to know of him as of just yet...
