You forgot one thing about welfare. Yes, a better system would help...BUT...the people who would put that into place (democrats) would not be voting against abortion. The people that vote against abortion DO NOT vote for aiding people in those situations. I know abortion sucks. It is a hard issue and every one seems to have an opinion about it. I don't really like the idea, but since people do have sex and get pregnant and cannot care for the child, is it fair for the child to suffer their whole lives for their parent's mistake? Is it fair for them to go hungry, be abused/neglected, and feel unwanted? Is it right for them to grow up in an orphanage ?(every child aborted couldn't possibly be adopted- there are kids in orphanages and foster care NOW!) What it comes down to is that there isn't a good solution to the problem where someone doesn't get hurt.

"there isn't a good solution to the problem where someone doesn't get hurt. " -KK. That's true, but there is a solution to the problem where someone doesn't die. We find ourselves in choice-between-two-evils mode unfortunately often. I see abortion as the bigger evil.

Actually, someone might die. The baby could be born and thrown in a dumpster, die of child abuse or neglect. Plus, if they are abused their whole lives and neglected or bounce around between foster homes and never have anyone to really care for them and build their self-confidence and give then opportunity, they may wind up killing other people by being involved in gangs, robberies, or maybe even rape and murder. You have to look at more than just the immediate affect. And yes I know that people who are wanted children can grow up and do these things. But it has been show time in time again in sociological and psychological research that individuals in poverty are more likely to commit crimes. It's just the facts.
