WE ARE 88 PEOPLE AWAY FROM HAVING 2000!
We need 2000 people to get NATIONAL news and that is what these kids deserve, you get to sleep in the comforts of you own home everyday, they don't have the comfort, so for one night do as they do and go to this in Franklin!

I keep this paint brush with me,

wherever I may go,

In case I need to cover up

so the real me dosen't show.

I'm so afraid to show you me,

Afraid of what you'll do-that

you might laugh or say mean things.

I'm afraid I might lose you.

I'd like to remove all my paint coats

to show you the real, true me,

But i want you to try to understand,

I need you to accept what you see.

So if you'll be patient and close your eyes,

I'll strip off all my coats real slow.

Please understand how much it hurts

to let the real me show.

Now all my coats are stripped off.

I feel naked, bare and cold,

And if you still love me with all that you see,

you are my friend, pure as gold.

I need to save my paintbrush, though,

and hold it in my hand,

I want to keep it handy

In case someone dosen't understand .

So please protect me, my dear friend

and thanks for loving me true

But please let me keep my paint brush with me

until i love me, too.

Life isn't about keeping score. Its not about how many people call you and its not about who you've dated, or are dating or haven't dated at all. It isn't about who you kissed, what sport you play, or which guy or girl likes you. Its not about your shoes or your hair or the color of your skin or where you live or go to school. In Fact, Its not about grades, money, clothes, or colleges that accept you or not. Life isn't about if you have lots of friends, or if you are alone, and its not about how accepted or unaccepted you are. Life just isn't about that . But life is about who you love and who you hurt. Its about how you feel about yourself. Its about trust, happiness, and compassion. Its about sticking up for your friends and replacing inner hate with love. life is about avoiding jealousy, overcoming ignorance and building confidence. Its about what you say and what you mean. Its about seeing people for who they are and not what they have. Most of all, its about hoosing to use your life to touch someone elses in a way that could never have been achieved otherwise, these choices are what lifes about.

Not ready for Monday

April 24 2006
I need more weekend. I'm not done with this one yet. I had lots of fun with people I love being with but I didn't get much of my never ending "to do" list done. I guess I need to pretend to be an adult on occasion and take care of business. When I'm bad like that Randy has to come home from a LONG weekend of teaching and do stuff I should/could have done. He never says a word but I feel really guilty!

I did get Beka some black pants for youth choir, I bought groceries, and cooked a meal (the oreos and milk meal for 5 doesn't count!), did some laundry, cleaned the kitchen, had youth choir practice, oh! and made a pair of slacks for me. I still left an aweful lot undone.

I'm SOOO ashamed!!! Okay, I'm over it! I don't have time to waste beating myself up for what I didn't do. As a matter of fact I could be doing something productive right now but No! I checking phusebox! Okay - gotta go make sandwiches for lunches.

When does life get simpler? Calmer? Quieter? Hmmm.....

Chili Pepper Revenge

April 23 2006

Remember the hot hot hot chili I said I ate Sunday night? Well, it got its revenge on me last night. There's this funny little attribute about chili peppers - - your stomach digests them slower than most foods. So, just image (sounds like a beatle song, huh?) .... you eat all this really good food with some super-duper (stole that term from Josh) chili pepper. Then, you go to bed and let good ole tummy digest the food. Then, 3 hours later when you're sleeping ... alarm alarm alarm .... all the food is gone EXCEPT for this wad of fire-torch chili sitting in your stomach.

Pain, cramps, convulsions, and who knows what else .... strike the body ... can't move, can't breath, can't talk ... so I'm thrashing in bed (not the fun kind of thrashing) until Decy wakes up ... she asks what's wrong, and I weakly whisper "chili attack .... rice or bread QUICK". She rushes to the kitchen, grabs me a bowl of white rice. Somehow I shove two handfuls into my mouth, chew, swallow, pass out. 10 minutes later I wake up, feeling weak, but better ... still hugging my bowl of rice (Decy is already asleep again). I eat a bit more rice, drink some water ... and go back to sleep.

Was it worth it? You bet ! I love Decy's cooking, and this doesn't happen too often. Last night I knew I was "on the edge" RE the quantity of chili .... so ....

First fun night in a while...

April 23 2006

Had drama practice. Got to beat David w/a coloring book (made the whole practice worth it). Had a Fine Arts service. Hung out at Taco Bell...sadly, that's the most fun I've had in a good long while.

Edit** So after Brian King brought it to my attention I must admit I did have fun the other day on the field trip "swimming" through the rain, and waiting to be seated in a freezing restaurant. That was actually quite fun despite how uncomfortable we were in our rain-soaked clothes.

dude.ash made this for me.so i guess its cool.

Increased Baby Time

April 23 2006
I hate that incompetent people can use groupwork to succeed in school and go on to get jobs, be incompetent, and get promotions based on other people's work. For once, it's not my group that's making me cranky, but Josh's school work.

I am really looking forward to the end of the semester. As you may know, there is only one more week of classes, then a week of exams, and the semester is done. Josh and I will visit his family, see his brother graduate and visit with his dad and stepmom. Then Josh shall skip off to Colorado to have fun and games and leave me with the baby for a week. I want Josh to have lots of fun, but I have to say that I'm not too pleased with having the baby on my own for a week. So, I shall spirit myself off to Hendersonville to stay with my parents for a few days. Hopefully Jeana and Randy will let us keep Zeus at their house for a little while, but if not, we'll have to find a vet to board him at. (Our old vet displeases us. We want a new one that won't make my cat smell like smoke and look like he played in ashes.)

I am very excited about the summer. It will be nice to play with the baby more frequently. There are some days where I feel like I hardly see him at all, so I'm looking forward to spending more time with him. Josh will be working all summer, which means I'll have the baby all the time on week days, which is also a little bit of a bad thing. and unfortunately, I'll have no excuse to continue putting off cleaning the house. Alas.

The Weekend of the Flume

April 23 2006
So this weekend was AMAZING!

Friday immediately after my voice lab, I got in my car and drove to Fayetteville, GA, and met Steph, and Brittany, and Brittany's front door of her house. Steph's hair was SHORT! It looks so amazing though, and I love it. So that night we settled in and ate tacos.

The next morning we went to Six Flags over Georgia! It was amazing! First we tried out the new ride Goliath, which wasn't at all liked SF cracked it up to be, but then we made a better decision and went to a couple of other rides, that made up for it. A few very memorable ones were my #1 favorite, the epitomy of greatness, the LOG FLUME! I think that I shall have one built in my backyard when I can afford it. ;) The second coolest one had to be Superman, where you actually laid on your stomach and flew around! That was another amazing ride. Then at the end of the night we rode this roller coaster called the Scorcher,
where you stood on your feet and rode it, and it had some incredible
loops and cork screws that made it a rush! Then we went home and had some luscious lasagna. Then we went outside and made a fire, made some smores, and sang some songs around the camp fire. Jake and I stayed on the living rooms couches that seemed to swallow you with comfortability.

Sunday we went to B's church where the praise and worship was awesome and the message was really good. We went home, ate some barbecue chicken and watched some Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and then we had to part. I was very sad, because it seemed to short, but all good things must come to an end.

Special thanks to Brittany's parents for putting up with us, and her mom for making some delicious food, and to the inventor of the Log Flume and all of it's splendor.

Teen Banquet

April 23 2006

So teen Banquet was fun.
The food was pretty terrible.
Sarah spent the night afterwards.
I've decided I don't fit in with those that knit.
I have decided I love Soccer eventhough my coach sucks.
I'm pretty sure that's all I've got to say--so leave me some comments!

Me and Miguelito...

Sarah was my entertainment! =) I loveeee her.

April 23 2006
there are moments when you realize that someone, somewhere has captured a night of your life in a song. and then, you dont feel so alone anymore, because you know for sure that other people go through the same things that you do, and that is a very conforting feeling...

so, you should go listen to "how to save a life" by the fray...but i will leave you with a snippit...ok a little more...but still!!!

Step one you say we need to talk

He walks you say sit down it's just a talk

He smiles politely back at you

You stare politely right on through

Some sort of window to your right

As he goes left and you stay right

Between the lines of fear and blame

And you begin to wonder why you came

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend

Somewhere along in the bitterness

And I would have stayed up with you all night

Had I known how to save a life

Let him know that you know best

Cause after all you do know best

Try to slip past his defense

Without granting innocence

Lay down a list of what is wrong

The things you've told him all along

And pray to God he hears you

Where did I go wrong, I lost a friend

Somewhere along in the bitterness

AFGHAN [TEA] KILLS 4 CANADIAN [MINIVANS]

A [cheese] bomb killed four [weird] soldiers yesterday in the [homosexual] attack on that nation's troops since they deployed in [Hot Topic] four years ago, and commanders blamed loyalists of the former [flatulent] regime.

The [cellphone] came as Afghan President [Kelsey Shearron] said "foreigners" are [spelunking] his country's [table]. He didn't [hoola hoop] any countries or [napkins].

[Retarded] officers said the bomb destroyed one of four armored [trashcans] in a convoy and killed its four occupants in [JC Penney], a village about 25 miles north of the southern [underwear] of Kandahar, a former Taliban stronghold.

A[n] [argyle] [coffee mug] moved into southern Afghanistan to [lick] U.S. troops. Canada has had forces in the [dress] since the U.S.-led offensive that toppled the [wall] at the end of 2001, and at least 16 [babies] have been killed.

Yard Work

April 23 2006

So it's a lovely day, and Mom asked if I wanted to cut the grass for a little money. Being unemployed at the moment ((pray to God that won't last any more than a couple of weeks)), I agreed, even though I haven't cut the grass before. The yard looks nice, but I was left with a six inch scrape on my arm because of a HUGE hanging DEAD limb:

Needless to say, I was pretty ticked off at the limb, so I decided to rip it down with my bare hands. And when that didn't work, I took a hack saw to it. Look at me in all of my tree slaying glory:

Hear me roar.

Gah.

April 23 2006

*a smile*

April 23 2006

hey, so i wrote this today, see what you think.

A Smile

The wedding march started and she entered the room. Her hair was swept back in playful curls and her unique hazel eyes made her the most stunning that he had ever seen. This was the gorgeous girl he fell in love with when they were only kids. He had said he'd marry her and she only giggled. She had never taken her best friend seriously when he said he'd love her forever. Now the wedding day was here.

He met her glance halfway down the aisle and locked eyes with her. They smiled at the same time as she made her way to the altar. That smile was what swept him off his feet every single time he saw her. Now she was standing before God, the crowd, and the man she'd be with for the rest of her life, professing her love. Before he even knew it happened, the "I do's" were said and the couple was introduced as man and wife. There was that smile again, as the wedding party walked down the aisle.

At the reception, he watched her from across the room, laughing with her friends and greeting other guests. She browsed the room, looking for someone to catch her eye. Of course, he looked at that exact moment she did. He could always read her thoughts. That's what made them a perfect pair. He tried to mix and mingle among the wedding guests, but he couldn't take his eyes off of her. A slow song came on, their slow favorite song from childhood, and he couldn't stand it anymore. He had to dance with her. He parted the crowds to take the woman he loved by the hand.

"Excuse me, ladies, but do you mind if the best man borrows the bride for one dance?"

So I spoke at CAK on April 20 I would say that things went
well, and I pray that what I said got through to these students.

With that said, on the way back, I was listening to Blindside, and a
song that I've heard many times really, made sense to me. It was
really weird, because I can say in all honesty, their song Pitiful, is
basically, the sermon I spoke that morning. I can't really
explain exactly why, because I'd have to really go into my sermon, and
I'm sure you'll don't really want that. But this song REALLY got
to me this morning.

Just read this lyrics, ( and yes, I've altered them a bit, but they're basically the same )

Man, this is a powerful song..

Blindside: Pitiful

As I recall with my stomach turning,

I was hiding away from myself, away from You,

Pretending nothing, but I knew something was terribly wrong.

I'll admit that I was only waiting for the right time....

The right moment for You to look away....

And though you never did I still pretended for a while

Just so I could look where I don't belong

I remember every word you said...

PLEASE COME BACK IN TIME! COME BACK!

God, I remember I will soon BE DEAD!

.
I am so pitiful...

So pitiful...

But I know, as I HAMMERED THOSE NAILS into your Beautiful Hands..

Your eyes they try to search for mine,
But I'll look away....

And though your eyes ARE THE ONLY THING THAT CAN SAVE ME...
I'M STILL AFRAID of them piercing..

.
You're breaking into my prison..

I JUST pretended for a while!
NOW MY SOUL IS DIEING, GOD, NOW I WON'T LOOK AWAY!

I remember every word you said!

I needed to come back in time, I came back!

.
But my situation was so pitiful..

We can all be so pitiful.....

---- So in the real song he doesn't say " i remember every word you
said!" but I think he just continues to repeat the first part of trying
to remember everything, to keep coming back to the point of us just
looking God in the fact, and turning away from Him..

And how pitiful that is.

Selamat Tidur (good night)

April 23 2006

Ok, for me in Angola it is night time right now ... Sunday night. Had a wonderful day with Decy and girls. BUT, no matter how good ... I still miss my sons.

Had a good lunch. Decy fixed drunk shrimp (shrimp stir fried in brandy), bean soup, white rice, hot hot hot chili, some leftover chix and beef. The drunk shirmp was not fresh, it was frozen import - ONLY US$30 for 1 kilo. Well, as Decy would say, better than nothing.

Ok, so today I had an "Enron moment" ... yep, shredding. Destroyed don't know how many thousands of pages ... what a shame, maybe somebody would have found some good dirt on me. Afterwards, time to relax. Guess you will have to wait for the blog to reveal my deep dark secrets.

Asians, and particularly Decy and the girls love Karaoke (guess I spelled that right). So, spent the evening listening to "live" music. Well, it was live when the girls sang. It was "dead" when I sang. Had a great time. All three have great voices. Chely and Tasya have lots of potential ... maybe someday.

Oops, got to go. Decy says it is time for my massage. She knows I have a hard week coming .... so, being the wonderful wife that she is ... well ... anyway ...

Ciao

You Know You're Addicted to Coffee When...

You can jump start your car without cables.

You answer the door before people knock.

You get a speeding ticket even when you are parked.

You've worn out your third pair of shoes this week.

Your eyes stay open even when you sneeze.

You grind coffee beans in your mouth.

You can type sixty words per minute -- with your feet.

You soak your dentures in coffee overnight.

You sleep with your eyes open.

You have a picture of your coffee mug on your coffee mug.

Instant coffee takes too long to make.

You channel surf faster without the remote.

You don't sweat... you percolate.

You've built a miniature city out of little plastic stirrers.

You short out motion detectors.

You walk twenty miles on your treadmill before you realize it's not plugged in.

The only time you are standing still is during an earthquake!

You've worn the finish off your coffee table.

All your kids are named Joe.

Juan Valdez named his donkey after you.

People get dizzy just watching you.

Starbucks owns the mortgage on your house.

The nurse needs a scientific calculator to take your pulse.

The Taster's Choice couple wants to adopt you.

When someone asks 'How are you?' you say, 'Good to the last drop'.

You buy milk by the barrel.

You can outlast the Energizer bunny.

You can take a picture of yourself from ten feet away without using the timer.

You can't even remember your second cup.

You chew on other people's fingernails.

You don't even wait for the water to boil anymore.

You don't get mad, you get steamed.

You don't need a hammer to pound in nails.

You don't tan, you roast.

You forget to unwrap candy bars before eating them.

You go to AA meetings just for the free coffee.

You go to sleep just so you can wake up and smell the coffee.

You have to watch videos in fast-forward.

You haven't blinked since the last lunar eclipse.

You help your dog chase its tail.

You introduce your spouse as your coffee mate.

You just completed another sweater and you don't know how to knit.

You lick your coffeepot clean.

You name your cats Cream and Sugar.

You ski uphill.

You speak perfect Arabic without ever taking a lesson.

You speed-walk in your sleep.

You spend every vacation visiting Maxwell House.

You think being called a drip is a compliment.

You think CPR stands for Coffee Provides Resuscitation.

You'd be willing to spend time in a Turkish prison.

Your first-aid kit contains two pints of coffee with an I.V. hookup.

Your coffee mug is insured by Lloyds of London.

Your lips are permanently stuck in the sipping position.

Your nervous twitch registers on the Richter scale.

Your only source of nutrition comes from Sweet & Low.

Your taste buds are so numb; you could drink your lava lamp.

Your Thermos is on wheels.

You're so wired, you pick up AM radio.

You've built a miniature city out of little plastic stirrers.

You've worn out the handle on your favourite mug.

You take your morning coffee with you in the shower.

Your heart beats noticeably faster as a reaction to the smell of coffee.

Humoring Christina

April 23 2006

Just as she instructed, I will now put the first two lines to the first thirty songs that come up when I shuffle my iPod, and you guys can tell me the titles and artists. Put the number of the song you are guessing as well. I'll add the title and artist when you guess correctly. (I'm being honest, too. There will be no omissions of embarrassing songs.) Also, on a few of these I have skipped some opening words because they are just stuck there to start off the song; they aren't actually part of the first verse.

1. "You think you've lost your love/well, I saw her yesterday" - She Loves You by the Beatles

2. "Take me down to the paradise city/where the grass is green and the girls are pretty" - Paradise City by Guns N' Roses

3. "And here's to you, Mrs. Robinson, Jesus loves you more than you will know" - Mrs. Robinson by Simon and Garfunkel

4. "Just about a year ago/I set out on the road" - Lodi by Creedence Clearwater Revival

5. "I'm gonna do all the things for you/a girl wants a man to do" - I'm Gonna Make You Love Me by the Supremes and the Temptations

6. "I - I love the colorful clothes she wears/and the way the sunlight plays upon her hair" - Good Vibrations by the Beach Boys

7. "Call me the breeze/I keep blowin' down the road" - Call Me the Breeze by Lynyrd Skynyrd

8. "Desmond has a barrow in the marketplace/Molly is the singer in a band" - Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da by the Beatles

9. "Well, we were just another band outta Boston/on the road to try to make ends meet" - Rock n' Roll Band by Boston

10. "Finished with my woman/cause she couldn't help me with my mind" - Paranoid by Ozzy Osbourne

11. "All you women/who want a man of the street" - Shoot to Thrill by AC/DC

12. "Lady/when you're with me I'm smiling" - Lady by Styx

13. "Jesus is just alright with me/Jesus is just alright, whoa yeah" - Jesus is Just Alright by the Doobie Brothers

14. "Time keeps on slippin', slippin', slippin'/into the future" - Fly Like an Eagle by the Steve Miller Band

15. "You say you want a revolution/well, you know, we all want to change the world" - Revolution by the Beatles

16. "I'll buy you a diamond ring, my friend/if it makes you feel alright" - Can't Buy Me Love by the Beatles

17. Every time that I look in the mirror/all these lines on my face getting clearer" - Dream On by Aerosmith

18. "Dum, dum, dum/honey, what have you done?" - Janie's Got a Gun by Aerosmith

19. "Cruised into a bar on the shore/her picture graced the grime on the door" - Dude Looks Like a Lady by Aerosmith

20. "Well, I won't back down/no, I won't back down" - I Won't Back Down by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers

21. "Any way you want it/that's the way you need it" - Any Way You Want It by Journey

22. "There's something wrong with the world today/I don't know what it is" - Livin' on the Edge by Aerosmith

23. "Waiting for the break of day/searching for something to say" - 25 or 6 to 4 by Chicago

24. "Something in the way she moves/attracts me like no other lover" - Something by the Beatles

25. "See the curtains/hangin' in the window" - Summer Breeze by Seals & Crofts

26. "Got those highway blues/can't you hear the motor running" - Rockin' Down the Highway by the Doobie Brothers

27. "Louie, Louie, oh no/me gotta go" - Louie Louie by the Kingsmen

28. "I've paid my dues/time after time" - We Are the Champions by Queen

29. "Clean shirt, new shoes/and I don't know where I am goin' to" - Sharp Dressed Man by ZZ Top

30. "Right about now/the funk soul brother" - Rockafeller Skank by Fatboy Slim

That's it. Good luck. And don't cheat; no searching the lyrics on the net. EDIT: Just so you guys know, I don't consider looking at a CD, movie, iPod, or anything else you already own to be cheating.

I Guess I'm A Follower...

April 23 2006
Or am I? I'm doing 15 songs instead of 30 because wow... that's a lot. Here we go, you should now the drill by now, tell me the ones you know:

1.) "Close your eyes, try to imagine a world full of heavenly love, it's a dream you can't abandon, Jesus is counting on us, one little touch could be all it takes..."
2.) "Wonderful, so wonderful, is your unfailing love, your cross has spoken mercy over me, no eye has seen, no ear has heard..." -"Beautiful One" - Jeremy Camp
3.) "When I made up my mind, and my heart along with that, to live not for yourself, you forgot somebody said..." -"Getting Into You" - Relient K
4.) "Columbine, flower bloom, tenderly I sing to you, Columbine, rose blood red, heartache overflows my head..." - "Friend of Mine (Columbine)" - Jonathon & Stephen
5.) "No more days slipping through my hands, no more wasted minutes, come too far to deny my heart this dream I hold inside, I want to know the depths of God's love..."
6.) "Barren land come overflow with life and freedom... oh... barren land with labor and soil..."
7.) "She was walking in the garden one day when a snake slithered around her feet, follow me to this tree and I'll give you something good to sure, well I'm not sure, I don't know, I don't think it is right..."
8.) "I'm falling out of grace with the world they say I've lost my mind and everything I've turned to gold has now turned to rust..." - "Falling Out" - Relient K
9.) "Lights go out and I can't be... and I tried to swim again... I begging please... shooting an apple off my head... singing... ahhhh..."
10.) "Living in my own world, didn't understand, that anything can happen, when you take a chance, I never believed in, what I couldn't see..." - "Start of Something New" - High School Musical
11.) "Great is your faithfulness O God, you wrestle with the sinner's heart, You lead us by still waters into mercy, and nothing can keep us apart, so remember your people, remember your children, remember your promise O God..." - "Your Grace is Enough" - Chris Tomlin
12.) "Rain rain on my face, hasn't stopped raining for days, my world is a flood, slowly I become, one with the mud..." - "Flood" by Jars of Clay
13.) "Up to my ears in bitter tears, I can't believe I sunk this low, as I walk the plankton... you said north I headed south... I'm sleeping with fishes here..."
14.) "In the days we were swinging from the trees, I was a monkey, stealing honey from a swarm of bees, I could taste, I could taste you even then..."
15.) "Hello, good morning, how do you do, what makes the rising sun so new, I could use a fresh beginning, all of my regrets are nothing new, so this is the way that I say I need you, this is the way..." - "Learning to Breathe" - Switchfoot

I'm sorry that three of these songs you may have never heard - one is pretty darn indie but is on a CD I'm sure some of you have and two are from the same group that I'm sure none of you listen to... all songs are male performers, except one song is a female/male duet. I don't know how that happened... ha ha... Good luck...

...life

This is the place in my heart..this is the place where i'm falling apart.♥

April 23 2006
I found this letter.
I wrote it this summer.
&& I was reading some of the things i had written;
it was really actually quite insightful.
so I just thought I'd post it;;

Love is a flame that burns so bright and lights up your personality in an instant, it's a torch that brings a sparkle to your eyes and makes even the worst day every, better...It's when everything is so wrong and becomes so right;; when he hugs you and looks you in the eyes...just that perfect happiness and the way you feel whe you hear "i love you" and you know he meants it, and when you say it back, he knows you mean it too....love is wild, it's the Lion in the jungle of emotions...it leads you and gives you hope .. Love is kind...strengthens the weak, gives hopes to those with little...and the agony afterwards is only a small price to pay, for that feeling you find, even if you don't think it will ever come to you again, but you know, it will, and when the chocolate is gone and the sad movies are over, you'll be okay and you will be able to get up, with your head held high and yours spirits raised, knowing, even if you don't have that guy, you have so many people who love you...even if you can't see it every minute of every day...Love is amazing.

-----
&& on that topic i thought i'd write my love speech i had to write for speech class real quick.it's like traffice, it speeds up, slows down, comes to a hault, sometimes you're stuck in it with no way out, sometimes you even get angry. Heartbreak like car wrecks and idiots with no clue. This is all in relevance to love.
As one of the most misused words in the world today, love has caused alot of controversey. Take Romeo and Juliet for instance, was romeo not love sick over Rosaline, before meeting Juliet? This is as common now as it was in the Elizabeathen Era.
It is a complicated emotion that can only be described as undescribable. We as humans have thdeveloped the dependency for love. We write songs about it, watch movies about it, there is even a day devoted to it. Love seems to be everywhere.
Think to yourself, have you seen, heard, or used the word love today? Got one?I'm guessink of ing most of you could think of more than one. Love is on binders, greeting cards, billboareds, tatoos, bathroom stalls==People tell atleast one person they love them everyday, in the hallway, in notes to take up sace, love truely does seem to be everywhere...
Some are in love with eachother, some love religions and some just love themselves. Love is not what you wear, where you live, love supricsingly can't be baught at wallmart or reasonably on Ebay. Love is sitting through an episode fo the wiggles with your little brother, love is staying up with a sick child, it's selfless. Llve is waking up next to someone with morning breath and frizzy hair and still thinking they're beautiful, it's seeing the twinkle in the old couples eyes, past the wrinkles, a love like wine, aged with perfections, love is blind.

&& i lost the rest of the speech..but that's it.
oh well. just felt like putting that out there.

Lied? Work.... Sick.... Prom

April 23 2006

ok. so pretty sure I have been lied to by my so called best friend.... (Don't say you didn't lie to me because I know you did and i'm not that fuckin' stupid.) It doesn't bother me that you are its just the fact you lied to me... Some best friend you are huh...

ok. on to a better note...

Jamie and I put our 2 weeks in at Marshalls... John didn't like that to much. We had so much fun last night... I love that girl to death.

I went to work yesterday with no voice.. could barely talk. and wasn't in the best mood. It hurts to cough. Mom thinks its allergies or something...

Prom is just around the corner. I'm excited. Not to long after that we have like 2 weeks and no more school. I'm excited yet nervous at the same time.

Settling Down

April 23 2006

Well life is finally settling down on all areas except the school front. Just listen to THIS news about the University!!! First off, our president, MR McPhee is NOT a U.S. Citizen. That's right folks, the 'fearless' leader of our dear university can't even vote!!! Out does that suit you? To have a non-citizen leading us. No wonder he has so many hidden agendas. Okay anyway.

Had one of the most embarrassing moments of my life yesterday. Am at work, have just taken a delivery to NHC on N. University and am headed back to the deli via Medical Ctr Parkway. Well Martina McBride's Independence Day comes on and I am singing away. I do this on a regular basis however most of the time my windows are up. Well it was a beautiful day so they were about halfway down and I am just belting my little heart out. Well I pull up to the light just as it is turning red and sit. I am mildly aware of the vehicles on either side of me. Well the song ends and in the silence that follows I hear claps. Then more claps. Then "encore, encore" I SLOWLY turn my head to the side and what am I faced with? A Jeep Cherokee occupied by no less than four guys who are now cheesing and 'cheering' me on. Well this gets the attention of the guy on the other side of my car and gets him involved as well (no doubt he heard my stunning performance). Talk about looking for a rock to crawl under. I don't think I sang for the rest of the day.. . . I've never been so red!!!

Anyway just wanted to update so the "Disgust" post could be moved finally!

Be a Bean

April 23 2006

Last night before the party, I saw that Decy was soaking some beans. I remembered an experience from a few years ago before we were married. I tried cooking beans ... washed them, then cooked them, and cooked them, and cooked them for 3 solid days before they were soft (forget dinner that night). I quickly decided "that sucked". So next time, I soaked the beans a few hours, then I cooked them. PERFECT ... I had supper.

So, last night, I asked Decy "why is it that cooking a bean doesn't work but soaking them does". In Decy's not so perfect English she answers a question I didn't ask. She says: You're just like a bean. Huh? She says: You're just like a bean. Huh? I don't get it ... we are talking about beans, not me.

Decy, in her patience, says, Darling - you are a hard man and whenever somebody presses you, you close down and fight back. But, when people take time with you, talk to you, get to know you, then you open up. You are just like a bean .... so, with the bean, soaking it relaxes it ...opens it up. Then, the full benefit and the flavor of the bean can come out.

Amazing little story. Decy can teach me many things ... if only I listen. Maybe we should all listen just a little bit more .... so that the goodness in people and the world can be realized.

Sunday - A Day of Rest

April 23 2006

And so, what was my decision last night? Dancing or the girl? Dinner party ended about 11pm ... got to the house to change (or do something different) at 1130pm ... decisions, decisions. I took the girl.

If I had gone dancing all night, I would have had to write off Sunday for accomplishing anything. By "taking the girl" (and a beautiful one at that; my wife) I got to bed at a good hour (for me), got a good nights sleep, and now have the opportunity for a leisurely and restful Sunday.

About the dinnner party, we were saying good-bye to our friends Watty and Larry. Larry is American and Watty is Indonesian. They are being transferred to Jakarta Indonesia ... and will leave in one or two weeks. We will miss them.

I met my wife, Decy, in Jakarta under very challenging circumstances, maybe someday I will share that. Jakarta is an interesting city (as is the country). It has its positives and negatives. In many ways it is a very modern city, having something like 20 million people. But, there is lots of air pollution and considered one of the 5 smoggiest cities in the world. BUT, if you like seafood, spicey food, live music, and cheap cheap cheap (but modern) shopping, that is the place to be. And, think about it (both girls and boys) ... where else can you go for massage, body scrub, mani/pedi, cream bath ... the full works to completely detox your body and relax .... a full 6-8 hour treatment ... all for about $20-50 depending on where you go.

You may notice that I posted two new pics (one of Luanda, the other of a hash). For those of you who don't know, hashing is a worldwide sport ... jokingly, it is a "drinking club with a running problem". Essentially, we are a club that goes running or walking thru cities, towns, mountains, jungles, whatever, for about 1 hour ... then we have a party afterwards. Its great. I love it. Hashing is very much a part of my life ... my "hash handle" is Urp the Burp (you figure it out), Decy's is Spicey, Chely's is Gindungo (an Angolan chili), Tasya's is Habanero Kid ... get the pattern? I just finished my 1-yr position as Grand Master Hasher (kind of like "president"). This year I am the Religious Advisor. Its my job (now) to make sure that we have good weather, no accidents/injuries, fun, and that none of the 365,459 rules (not including subclauses) are not broken.

The hash is all over the world. If you are interested ... go to www.gthhh.com ... and you can find the nearest "Hash House Harriers" in your area.

About the pic of Luanda, that is a typical subburb shopping area. "Real" stores are in town and improving daily, now that the war is over. And, they are actually building Angola's first mall (should be ready in a year or two). In the meantime, that pic shows how the majority of people buy/sell. I have hundreds of Angola pics ...if there is some interest, I can post more.

Gotta run ... I think Spicey has something good for me to eat ... and it ain't bule food (Indonesian slang for American; but its literal translation is "albino")

Be Thou My Vision

April 23 2006
Be Thou my Vision, O Lord of my heart;
Naught be all else to me, save that Thou art
Thou my best Thought, by day or by night,
Waking or sleeping, Thy presence my light.

Be Thou my Wisdom, and Thou my true Word;
I ever with Thee and Thou with me, Lord;
Thou my great Father, I Thy true son;
Thou in me dwelling, and I with Thee one.

Be Thou my battle Shield, Sword for the fight;
Be Thou my Dignity, Thou my Delight;
Thou my soul’s Shelter, Thou my high Tower:
Raise Thou me heavenward, O Power of my power.

Riches I heed not, nor man’s empty praise,
Thou mine Inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of heaven, my Treasure Thou art.

High King of heaven, my victory won,
May I reach heaven’s joys, O bright heaven’s Sun!
Heart of my own heart, whatever befall,
Still be my Vision, O Ruler of all.

O God, please be my vision.
-Jeff

Let that be enough...

April 23 2006

Well, life sucks if you were wondering, although I have hope for next week. I'll be returning to Atlanta for a week tomorrow--that is, Sunday--to pick up what pieces I can and pull out of the air some passing grades. Despite being strongly admonished against extraneous worries, I can't help but concern myself over certain people's thoughts at this point. Then again, what will be will be. I hear Fine Arts is next Friday and Saturday, and I hope to see some entries. Let me know your expectations and/or results: trust me, I need something good to get my mind on.
Tomorrow, I have the recital for chamber choir and chorale; it should be a lot of fun. As Yuki says, "Peace I'm out, man."

Time for some overhaul and personal weeding.

We are only temporary.

I've felt frustrated all day long.
Never fear, it will pass, it always does.
Of course, of course.

Sometimes people you see only one month per year or have only known for three years treat you better, with much more consideration, than people you've known twice as long and see much more often. "Funny ol' world, isn't it?"

I prefer not to discuss any of it, as nothing would be relieved by such explanations and may very well exacerbate my condition.

Suffice to say, the outside world needs to sod off severely.

Today was awesome!

April 22 2006

So pretty sure today was awesome! County was today and im super proud of our distance runners. Daniel Reese got 3rd and ran 10:44 in the 3200m, while Hooker ran 12:52 (which was a pr). I won with a 9:42. Then came the mile... which was one of the toughest races ive ran in awhile. I ran 4:24 with Kelvin right on my heels the majority of the race. Im super proud of my boy Adam Cunningham getting 3rd with 4:50 and Dan Reese getting 5th with 4:52. These guys are becoming awesome. Way to represent BHS distance!!! Then with us being absoulutly spent came the 800m. Kelvin took it out what i thought was hard but ended up not even being fast. I got 2nd with 2:02. My legs were so fatigue. All of these added up to 28 points which meant county mvp. God has given me this talent and i pray that i always use it for his glory above all. An awesome friend once told me trust and follow the lord and he will take me places way farther than running. And running is not greater than God.

Finally came the part of my day i couldnt wait for. I went Alex's house. Yes i got to see the most amazing girl ever, Ami Driver. Which happens to be my girlfriend. Yes i know.. me + the most amazing girl ever= lucky. Just kidding... well kinda. Me and Alex are also really cool. God has given me so many awesome people in my life in the past couple months. I feel like i have gained a couple of the best friends ever. You know who you are. God has put these people in my life and they truly hold my accountable for being the person im meant to be. I love yall.

God Bless <><

ATTN 90's kids!
08:42 pm

reading this was just so crazy i had to post it

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Anybody under the age of 15 should not read this, and if you do, you should not repost this.

Just because you were born in '92 doesn't mean you're a 90's kid.

It's not like you could remember the original Simpsons. I am sorry but three conscious years of the nineties just wont cut it.

You're a 90's kid if:

You've ever ended a sentence with the word "SIKE!"

You can sing the rap to "The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air"

You remember when Kurt Cobain, Tu Pac, River Phoenix, and Selena died.

You know that "WOAH" comes from Joey from "Blossom" and that "How Rude!" comes from Stephanie from "Full House"

You remember when it was actually worth getting up early
on a Saturday to watch cartoons.

You got super excited when it was Oregon Trail day in computer class at school.

You remember reading "Goosebumps"

You know the profound meaning of "Wax on, wax off"

You have pondered why Smurfette was the only female smurf.

You took plastic cartoon lunch boxes to school.

you
danced to "wannabe" by the Spice Girls, Females: had a new motto,
Males: got a whole lot gay-er. (so tell me what you want, what you
really really want.)

You remember the craze then the banning of slap bracelets and slam books.

You still get the urge to say "NOT" after (almost) every sentence...Not...

Where in the world is Carmen San Diego? was both a game and a TV game show.

Captain Planet.

You knew that Kimberly, the pink ranger, and Tommy, the green/white Ranger were meant to be together.

When playing power rangers with friends you fought over who got to be who............and STILL all ended up being tommy.

You remember when super nintendo's became popular.

You remember watching home alone 1, 2 , and 3........and tried to pull the pranks on "intruders"

"I've fallen and I can't get up"

You remember going to the skating rink before there were inline skates

Two words... Trapper Keeper.

You ever got injured on a Slip 'n' Slide

You wore socks over leggings scrunched down

You had at least one Tamagotchi, GigaPet or Nano and brought it everywhere

You watched the original Care Bears, My Little Pony, and Ninja Turtles

NANCY DREW AND THE HARDY BOYS WERE THE BEST MYSTERY BOOKS

Yikes pencils and erasers were the stuff!

All your school supplies were "Lisa Frank" brand.(pencils.notebooks.binders.etc.)

You remember when the new Beanie Babies were always sold out.

You used to wear those stick on earings, not only on your ears, but at the corners of your eyes.

You remember a time before the WB.

You've gotten creeped out by "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"

You know the Macarena by heart.

"Talk to the hand" ... enough said

You thought Brain woud finally take over the world

You always said, "Then why don't you marry it!"

You remember when everyone went slinky crazy.

You remember when razor scooters were cool.

when we were younger:

Before the MySpace frenzy.

Before the Internet & text messaging.

Before Sidekicks & iPods.

Before MIKE JONES

Before PlayStation2 or X-BOX.

Back when you put off the 5 hours of homework you had every night.

WHEN LIGHT UP SNEAKERS WERE KOOL

When you rented VHS tapes, not DVDs.

When gas was $0.95 a gallon & Caller ID was a new thing.

Wearing your new shoes on the first day of school.

Class field trips.

POGS

When Christmas was the most exciting time of year.

When $5 seemed like a million, & another dollar a miracle.

When you begged to go to McDonalds for dinner everyday.

When Toys R Us overuled the mall.

Go back to the time when:

Decisions were made by going 'eeny-meeny-miney-moe'.

Mistakes were corrected by simply exclaiming 'do over!'

'Race issue' ment arguing about who ran the fastest.

Money issues were handled by whoever was banker in 'Monopoly'.

It wasn't odd to have two or three 'best' friends.

Being old referred to anyone over 20.

A chance to skate as a couple at the local roller rink was like winning the lottery.

Scrapes & bruises were kissed & made better.

It was a big deal to finally be tall enought to ride the 'big people' rides at the fair.

When playing Nintendo was the hardest thing ever.

When Ninja Turtles ruled the world.

DID I DO THAAAAAAAAAT???

smud and yak back. skip it and pop it.

Before we realized all this would eventually disappear

ha...i'm lame

April 22 2006

1. On your current playlist, put it on shuffle and pick the first thirty songs that come up, no matter how embarrassing.
2. Write down the first one or two lines from each song.
3. Have your friends comment and see if they know any of the songs - no cheating! No Google!
4. When someone guesses correctly, bold the line and add at the end of the name of the song. Bold and indent when the artist has also been guessed and write it at the end of the line also.

Whoa-dang.... I love Latin conventions.

Seriously. You don't even understand.

We placed in ONE event. Sean got third place in reading comprehension or something. Yeah, pretty sure that we had no freaking idea what the passage was about, but we all placed in the top 10. Apparently everyone else was more confused than we were.

And we didn't even pass the qualifying round of certamen. They give all the schools that want to compete a prelimnary test and then seed the top nine teams against each other so that the very best teams don't have to play each other in the first round. We didn't even make the top nine. How sad are we?

Overall, though. My weekend was... I mean has been so far... convention screws with your sense of time. It's hard to believe it's only Saturday evening. Anyways. My weekend so far has been pretty darn amazing. I love my Latin kids. Everything on my list of predictions happened, and then some.

Like the stripper lessons. Those were new. But hey, at least I learned something, right? ;) And we invented a new form of silent "applause" for schools that we don't like. For example, turning MUS's little U hand symbol into F-U. Heh heh.

Next year... going to be even more amazing. William and I have decided that we are going to drug the freshmen, steal $50 from their wallets, load them on the bus, and drag them to Memphis. (Next year's con is at Rhodes Univ.) They don't have a choice.

We will have something prepared for roll call. We will have something prepared for the spirit competition. We will have a banner. We will have correct t-shirts. We will place in more than one test (maybe). And we will at least make ninth seed in certamen.

We are determined! RAR!

I gotta go see Wiz-O-Oz in about an hour. Latah, homedizzles.

Hear Ye, Hear Ye!

April 22 2006
In case you haven't already seen the most remarked photo of the day, here's Brian's new cut:

In other news, I'm actually not stressed about the paper, presentation, and speech I have due Monday. Hmmm... maybe tomorrow.

And I now own the movie Pride and Prejudice. *Happiness!*

Quote of the week:
*Before speech class*
Dustin: I actually took a women's studies class one semester.
Me: Were you the only girl in there?
*Dustin, Katie, and Garrett just look at me, and I am oblivious to what I have said*
Garrett: Don't you mean wasn't he the only guy in there?
Me: Oh yeah... yeah... I'm so sorry!
Dustin: That's ok; it's much funnier when you say it that way.

A post!

The Emancipation of Brian King

April 22 2006

Once upon a time, there lived a boy named Brian King...

...who felt that he needed to go out on his own and experience the world...

like the joys of eating chocolate cake.

So he decided to run away. But he was captured inside a limo, where he was forced an inconceivably disgusting poison down his throat.

Little did naive Brian know, this "poison" was quite the stuff.

He soon came to realize this...

and it was thru this process that he came up with a brilliant idea...he could fake insanity and escape this horrible circumstance...

...his plan was succesful and he proceeded to climb up Mount Starbuck...

...the climb was hard, but when he reached the other side he was pleasantly surprised by a friendly encounter by the Paper Hat People...

and although they were nice...he decided he was ready for another adventure...

...so as he sat with his Napolean inspired thinking cap, he pondered on his next adventure...

...he wished to become a wanderer of the desert destined to be a sheik...

yet he needed something else...

he took some time to meditate on what it was that he needed....and found that what he needed was an arabic sidekick to guide him...

....yet, due to his ignorance, the arabic guide/sidekick...turned him into a flying monkey.

The End...

something to ponder...

April 22 2006

hey hey you guys! wow sorry i havent updated in a while! thanks for all the comments! they make my day!

Proverbs 4:18, "But the path of the just is like the shining sun, that shines ever brighter unto the perfect day."

this is my favorite verses! this verse basically says that the way we walk as Christians should shine as bright as the sun to other people we come in contact with.

this makes me think of all the people i come in contact with throughout a normal day. the stranger i walk next to in the hall, the person i sit next to in class, the people whose lockers are around my locker, and even the kids i stand with in the lunch line.

THEN i think, "well there is a reason why God put me walking next to this person in the hall", or,"God wants me to tell something to that person i sit next to in my class",or, "maybe the girl whose locker is next to mine needs prayer about something", or even,"the guy who stand infront of me in the lunch line, maybe im put there so i can witness to him".

NOW i realize that i need to take advantage of all these oportunities that God has given. i want Gods light to shine to shine through me to the people around me...what i want is that when people see me they totally see through me and see straight to God. HE has done so much for me in my life that its wrong for me not to tell others about what HE can do in theirs. i pray that my everyday actions and my words portray a clear image of God and His love.

i hope everyone has a wonderful and safe weekend! i love all of you! thanks for all your advice and encouragment! your the best!

And so ... life goes on

April 22 2006

Bummer, this morning I write and write and write ... with my boring blog. And, 8 hours later still nobody has added a remark. Guess everybody fell asleep; it was that BORING.

Notwithstanding the preceding (sounds professional doesn't it?). Its been a very productive morning. Had good conversations with daughter Chely about life ... and had good lunch with Chely/Tasya and Decy when we talked about the future (more on that later, another day). Even more important (actually not MORE but still important), I was able to convince wifey, daughters, and even GRANDMA to join up with Phusebox ... did you notice the flood of "MORGANS" signing up ... he he he ... that's the problem with this family. We are scattered out all over the world, and it is so hard to stay in touch.

So, some of you other bloggers may get a chance to learn about life overseas ... stay tuned to this space ... ask questions when you want. I will answer what I can. For those that don't know me ... I left the USA on an overseas assignment to Colombia in 1996 ... since then I have lived/worked in Aceh, Indonesia ... Jakarta, Indonesia ... and Luanda Angola ... will I ever go back to the USA ?? don't know, but certainly not any time soon.

Why am I here ... well go back to blog #1 (at least I think it was #1 ) .... MONEY ... how much money ??? more than you can imagine .... ha ha ha ... at least Rupiah Indonesia 1,000,000 ... go figure it out.

What about fun? Oh yeah, its Saturday afternoon, soon to be evening for me. Yahoo !!! (no, that's not an advertisement). So, do I go to the dinner party tonight that Spicey has organized .... and then go home ... or, do I figure out a way to go to the dinner party and then go dancing until 6 am (remember, this is Angola). Can this old man, still pull an all nighter??? You bet I can ... when you're in love with a woman like Spicey you can do all kinds of things ... oops, almost crossed the line ... he he he ...

Hmmm, Spicey just brought me my clothes to wear for tonight ... a black and tan batik shirt from Indonesia. She tells me to wear khaki pants. Hmm, wonder if she is going to tell me what color of underwear to wear .... I love that girl. She is so special and caring.

Well, time to get dressed. I'll let you know tomorrow what I decide about tonight .... its a tough choice ... dancing all night ... or sleeping with my lovely wife ... decisions decisions.

For Starters...

April 22 2006

Whee, where to begin? Finally got my photo entered but how to set this type style & size is another story. It's great to read about ya'll and helps this ole granny know whats going on in your world. Before I write more I need to see how this sends and if I get accepted as your friend.

With love from the Kitkat

April 22 2006

early saturday morning, why am i awake? gonna head out to princeton in a bit, but i do have a few extra minutes.

having a car in new york city has cost me a lot of extra money, but i don't regret it at all. because i've had a car, i've had the opportunity in the past couple of months to go to boston, providence, dc, baltimore. not to mention, the advantages of learning my way around the city other than by mass transit. and today it's off to princeton. in a few weeks, there will be trips to martha's vineyard, long island, vermont-maine maybe.

i'm actually looking forward to going to back to school now. God had a lot for me to learn this year off. and the fun isn't over yet. i'm not excited about leaving new york city. in fact, if you ask me i will tell you that i do not want to leave at all. but i can also honestly say that i want to be where God wants me, and in august that will be back at school in birmingham.

i'm thankful for the people God has placed in my life over the past year. i can see God working at all times, in all places, through all people. and that, in itself, is enough for me.

Thoughts

April 22 2006

Deeep Thoughts by: Tom Rossi

How low do you have to go to steal a server's pen at a restaurant? I mean...come on! It is a server's pen. How many hundreds of hands have touched that pen? How many different strangers with different hands with different preferences on "washing hands". Sheesh. Do Yourself and America a favor. If you really need a pen, buy a cheap one at Wal-Mart and save yourself the myriad of possible germs.

Why and How should you ever have to sit on a wet or dampened public toilet seat? The point of going into the stall is to sit down and take care of your business arrangements. Pee Standing Up? Well, gorsh. I think they invented a little something called a urinal. Step aside and let the fat-people-who-have-to-take-dumps and the handicaps in. It's there stall. And if you must use this small cubicle of restroom sitting, have the courtesy to sit down or at least NOT piss all over the fricking sink.

The car signal is a brilliant invention. You can now inform other drivers when you will be turning or changing lanes. We do not have to use our arms and hands any more. It is so simple. Ha. Then, why must we leave ourright blinker on when we are in the left lane. One normal human being would assume they are going to shift into the right lane. This is not the case. The driver is either poorly incompetent in the head or just does nothing about it. Thus, the should notice the blinker. Thus, why do I see idiots doing this on the interstate? Come on now. We have come a long way from fingers and hands. Let's get with technology and properly signal your freaking car.
