Are they christians?

January 06 2006

Here's a few questions for you and I'm anxious to hear your responses:

If people don't believe that the Holy Spirit can dwell inside of them, are they christians?

Do you believe that the holy spirit can dwell inside of a person, but the person can refuse to let the spirit transform them?

Tell me your opinion.

Um well i am no expert by any means especially with the holy spirit. That is a really good question if the spirit can be in them without letting it changing them. I can't say i know that. If i were to give you my opinion though I would say no. You see the holy spirit is God's presence on this earth today. So if you think of it as God dwelling in someone without changing them I don't think that is possible. Again I could be very wrong. But the way I look at it is, a person can easily become desensitized from the sound of God's voice. They can choose time and time again to listen to the wrong voice or to ignore God's voice. Over time we loose our ability to hear God's voice and to differentiate what God's voice really is so in that sense we would be inhibiting God from changing us as he would like but not stopping him. Now I know I have talked to you about this so i will try not repeating myself too much - summed up here it is - if you truly want god your will genuinely ask him to take control of your life. Once that happens there is no way you will not realize a change in your life right off the bat. From that point on there is a thirst that is in you to want more of that initial change so you long a deeper longing than ever before to follow God. So from then on its kind of like you want God to transform you so you let him even if you don’t realize it. - - - - All that said if you truly accept christ then the holy spirit (or God) enters you. From then on you are not the same. You are changed and continue to change. Now it goes back to that first step. I would argue that a person who isn't changing but says their a christian. I would argue they might of not truly given there life to God in the first place. I don't know this though. This is just my opinion. I speak from personal experience. I hope you have a good day Sara.
