Every Day DOESN'T have to be the Same.

December 12 2006
The age old story lines about teenagers like yourself include these words, "lost, immature, searching, lazy, unsure, naive, easily influenced, and daring. The list can go on and on. From my own experience as a teenager I can attest to the above adjectives and affirm their meanings because I have been and still battle with those at 28. Nine Inch Nails wrote a song that I'm going to talk about in this blog and I want to hear back from you if this song is "your life." Is this song speaking about where your at in life? This song USED to describe me.

Every Day Is Exactly the Same
by Nine Inch Nails

I believe I can see the future
As I repeat the same routine
I think I used to have a purpose
But then again
That might have been a dream
I think I used to have a voice
Now i never make a sound
I just do what I've been told
I really don't want them to come around again

Oh, no

[Chorus]
Everyday is exactly the same
Everyday is exactly the same
There is no love here and there is no pain
Everyday is exactly the same

I can feel thier eyes are watching
In case I loose myself again
Sometimes I think I'm happy here
Sometimes, yet I still pretend
I can't remember how this got started
But I can tell you exactly how it will end

[Chorus]

I'm writing on a little piece of paper
I'm hoping someday you might find
I'll hide it behind something
They won't look behind
I am still inside here
A little bit comes bleeding through
I wish this could have been any other way
But I just don't know- I don't know what else I can do!

[Chorus]

I can look back in my life and see a lonely/searching young man/boy who desperately wanted someone to "show him the way." This song used to be me (emphasis on the past tense of the word "used.").

What part of YOU is in this song?

If you find yourself identifying to any part of these lines then let me be completely honest with you my friend, if I can. The identity you claim in this song can be traced back to some amount of pain and anguish and/or tragedy you have experienced. Do not let yourself be lied to that this is it; that it all stops here for you in these lyrics. That is where the lie is. It doesn't have to stop here. You have to choose whether or not you want to live in pain and anger your whole life or if you want Rescue. If you feel like there is, "no love here," I am here to awaken you to the fact that there is. This Love is waiting on you to reach out to Him and make Him the place where you run to and confide in. This Love is Jesus Christ.

Do you, "wish [there] could have been any other way,
But [you] just don't know- [you] don't know what else [you] can do!" If you feel your life is the epitomey of this song then change it. Your tears have you bitter and through with your life I'm sure. Depression has rendered you cynical, dry, and desolate. Wake up and be restored. Jesus said in John 4:14, "...whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."
Jesus Christ is the "other way" in the lyrics. When Trent Reznor "didn't know what to do" Jesus was an option the whole time. What will you choose? Stop pretending. Stop focusing on the "bledding." This is the time to truly "find yourself." Everyday doesn't have to be exactly the same. When you drink from the Living Waters which is Jesus Christ everything changes. You become a "new creation" (2 Cor. 5:17). You are no longer a slave to your pain you have endured because Jesus died and rose again to take it away from you.

Stop "repeating the same routine" away from Jesus Christ. Or this song will continue to be all you know. Your indentity will be these lyrics. And you'll continue to act out the pain you don't want to show.

If you want to know more, ticked off, totally disagree with me, or somewhere inbetween email me. I would love to talk about this with you. I once held tightly to alot of what this songs says. Jesus Christ bailed me out. I just want to show others that are trapped that there IS a Way out.

The Hope behind the Cross.

April 15 2006

"The cross and the resurrection stand as the pivotal events at the heart of the Christian faith. Christianity stands or falls with the substitutionary atonement wrought by the death of the incarnate Son of God on the cross and the resurrection of the Son of God on the third day. If Christ did not die in our place, then we are still under the divine verdict. If Jesus was not raised, He was merely a victim, and not the Victor.

The church comes each year to this celebration of resurrection because we must constantly remind ourselves and the world of the resurrection hope, and of the reality of the risen Christ. The church of the Lord Jesus Christ must always remain a company of resurrection witnesses, speaking the Gospel of the cross and the risen Christ to a world desperate for genuine hope.

Yet, the world is not always ready to hear the challenging clarity of the Easter message. Words such as sin, guilt, redemption, atonement, and salvation are often seen as intrusive, impolite, and unsophisticated. Individuals who flee from the admission of their own sinfulness know that the word of the cross and the witness of the resurrected Lord come as judgment, as well as grace.

Some within the church have decided to help the Easter message conform to cultural expectations. David Jenkins, the former bishop of Durham (England) prompted an outcry in the Church of England over his suggestion that the resurrection was "real," but not an historical fact. Christ's resurrection was real, in the sense that the disciples experienced the "livingness" of Jesus. Nevertheless, says the bishop, the resurrection of Jesus was not a bodily resurrection.

The modern flight from the reality of the empty tomb and the resurrected Christ is but another example of the revolt against classical Christian orthodoxy seen in some segments of the church. But the biblical message will not allow such compromise. The gospels record the bodily resurrection of Jesus from the dead and the appearance of the risen Christ to the disciples and to others.

Paul left no door open to misunderstanding when he stated: "If Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile and you are still in your sins." (1 Corinthians 15:17) If Christ was not raised "we are of all men to be pitied." But, Paul proclaimed, Christ has been raised, the firstfruits of the resurrection of the believers.

The resurrection of Jesus Christ is the vindication of the Gospel and the eternal sign of the atonement accomplished on the cross. The resurrection was recognized by the disciples as God's sign that Jesus was indeed the incarnate Son, that His messianic claims were true, that His preaching of the Kingdom of God would be realized, and that His sacrificial death was sufficient for the salvation of sinful humanity. The resurrection is also the sign of his return.

Furthermore, the Scriptures make clear the fact that Jesus's resurrection is the promise of our own resurrection and the concrete hope of life beyond the grave. The reality of the resurrection prompted Paul's triumphant cry: "Death is swallowed up in victory."

The church must never apologize for its celebration of the resurrection. Indeed, though Easter is celebrated as Resurrection Day, each Lord's Day is a resurrection day, and each congregation is a body of believers united in the hope and witness of the resurrection.

The two great annual festival celebrations of the church provide for worship and witness. Churches must be faithful witnesses to the reality of the bodily resurrection of Jesus and bold to speak the truth of His resurrection as both judgment and sufficient hope."

"Holla back, y'all."

He's Here! Introducing Rachel and I's Beautiful, Precious Baby Boi, Clint Aslan Nadeau!

March 16 2006

Aslan got here a  week ago today! I can't believe it's already been a week! March 9, 2006 at 11:29pm Rachel and I's precious son, Clint  Aslan Nadeau was born! Aslan, tipped the scales at 8 pounds, 4.5 ounces, and 20 inches. The delivery wasn't an easy one. Dr. Swan had to delivery Aslan by way of forceps (they resemble salad tongs) because he turned face up instead of face down. So that's why Aslan's left eye was swollen shut. Aslan's eye has since returned to normal and the brusie is almost gone. I will continue updating pictures of him. I have had the flu the past few days and class so I have been extremely busy and sick. Please continue to ask God to give Rachel and I the wisdom to raise Aslan. It has been so neat to see Rachel with Aslan. It is beautiful to see her talk to Aslan and do all the Mommy things with him. I am so in love with my precious son, Aslan. Aslan is so dependent on Rachel and I. For everything! God has taught me that my relationship with Him is to continue to be like that. No matter how old and independent and self-sufficent I become in life that I am still to rely on His guidence, His Word, and His fellowship to live. I am in awe of God. This experience of watching Aslan come into the world has changed my life. I praise God that He has blessed Rachel and I with this opportunity to raise Aslan for His glory. This whole thing has made me fall in love with God in a way that I can't describe. He has entrusted Rachel and I to raise Aslan according to His Word and Truth. I am so humbled and honored.

To all the single parent teenagers,
To the kids who go to bed every night without the love from both parents,
To the Moms who struggle to make ends meet. Who cry themselves to sleep overwhelmed,
To the Dads who try as hard as they can to provide and yet feel as though they never connect with they're child,
For all the tears my brother and sister and I cried,
To the insecurity that overtook us,
The insanity that was more consistant than security,
For all those nights where you couldn't close your eyes to sleep because you wondered when Mom was coming home,
I promise to be the Father I never had for the glory of Jesus Christ and for you.

On behalf of my God and life Jesus Christ, I surrender to You, depending on You to raise Aslan so that I might not repeat the mistakes that my parents made. Grant Rachel and I, your servants, the strength and wisdom to guide Aslan to Your cross. May you call Aslan's name to salvation according to Your will, so that He would bring glory to Your name.

And you who read this, no matter if your from a broken home or not
ask God to give you His strength to raise your future children for God's glory. Be there for your kids. Emotionally and physically. Always love them. Lavish them more with affection then material goods. Want more to provide for them then for selfish gain. No matter what, seek God, who is the giver of all things, at all costs.

Be Good to Your Ears!

February 06 2006

Be good to your ears! Be extremely kind to your heart and mind! Let your soul and spirit swim in melodies and lyrics that are hard to find these days!

Download (paying a fee or buying an album) Tim Hughes' "Giver of Life." May this song start playing in your heart and mind or through your speakers when your spiritual life best resembles your mouth after you run 5 miles.

Giver of life, You never change
All that is perfect comes from You
Your wonders never cease
Not even life, not even death
Nor any power in heaven or earth
Could separate us from Your love

You are good
And Your mercies last a lifetime
You are good, always, always
Everyday, Your love is never ending
For You are good, always always

Freely you give
New every day
Your mercies will never fail
So great is Your faithfulness!
Your love is kind, Your love is pure
Your love will always persevere
Every blessing comes from You
You delight to pour Your goodness down
You delight to pour Your goodness down

Exoneration.

Before me The Race.

He lives this life
Shaped by my past
Passion calls.
Compeled.

And all these complications-
Tied around me,
Chin to my chest,
Fists white,
Veins prominant,
Heavy breathing.

My eyes look up
Muscles flex
Mind whispers ...Take the weight I tow
Tears find they're way down
Mouth calls out
Heart pours
Hands outstretched
You can't go on until you learn to let go.

My lips speak His name
And in my shame
I fall at His grace.
Jesus.
In my worst He calls me back to Him.
Unbinds confusion.
Acquited of the secret places I hide.

Hands outstretched
Alive. Delivered. Relieved...
Free, Free, Free
Jesus, my heart won't forget your mercies
With my new life I pledge to honor, You.

Tears find they're way down.
You brought me up.

Before You Come to Diversion Tonight...

January 18 2006

STOP...

...and PRAY.

Confess anything that would hold you back from experiencing an encounter with the One, the God above all Gods. Examples would be bad attitudes, lies, laziness, being a punk face to friends, family...etc. Ask God to forgive any sin issues.
1 John 1:9, Psalm 51:1-2

Sweet! You are all cleaned up! Now as the time dwindles down to Diversion get excited! Tonight you will encounter "The" Living God! The One who made you, me, the guy in second period that sleeps the entire class, everyone! His soul purpose for creating us is so we would enjoy Him and give Him glory with how we live our lives (Col. 3:17). And tonight we want to do just that. We want to ENJOY HIM TONIGHT! We will do that by singing to Him, praying prayers of thanks and praise to Him and by showing His love for us to the ones who come to Diversion tonight (and it carries on to school, Food Lion, Waffle House, Greta's House of Nails and Hair Extentions and to our families and...well...everywhere).

All are invited tonight. Wednesdays, Tonight, 6:30 in the P.M. at Belle Aire Baptist Church. If you can read this...or if you can't...you are invited. If you can't come tonight come next week. This is a NON-EXCLUSIVE SETTING. Come and check out what it looks like to give your life to something other than yourself, style, sports teams, or relationships. Diversion is about THE relationship of all relationships. And that is a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.

Look Forward to seeing all of you tonight!

If I Should Go: Letters to Aslan.

January 12 2006

I didn't get to share this pic when Rachel and I took it because my
pictures were as big as me when I downloaded them onto Safari. Thanks
to Nathan I now go through Firefox. Which leads me to create this post
to share. Thank you Nathan and those that told me about Firefox.

So this is the ultrasound picture of Rachel and I's lil'
shorty...child, Paul Aslan Nadeau. We got this back in October. No
telling what he is looking like now. I can't stop looking at him. I
talk to him everynight as Rachel sits there and laughs because he moves
around so much. It has been so surreal praying for MY SON! MY SON! I
still can't believe it! I have had dreams about him. And I have had
dreams about him for years. I wrote about him even before I was
married. I have talked about him and prayed for him. Now almost 2
months until he comes into this world I site here and think about him.
What will he be like? What will be his interests? What foods will be
his favorites? Will he like to write? Play sports? What will his laugh
sound like? His smile look like? His voice? I am speechless that at
this very second as I write these words that God, in some awesome and
mysterious way, is right there with Aslan, forming him and talking to
him. Whatever Aslan decides to do or like in his life Rachel and I pray
that he would love his Creator more than anything else. More than a
girl, more than himself, and more than Rachel and I.

Again, I look at this picture and I can't put into words how I feel
inside. To not believe that something bigger than you and me did
this?...I can't fathom it.

Most of you know my story. My childhood, my dad, my parents, and my Momma. Beacuse of what I wnet through and the things I have seen I keep a journal that I will give to Aslan one day. Or if our Jesus should call me Home while Aslan is still growing up and trying to figure things out. Here is an excert from the journal I write to Aslan.

"If I Should Go: Letters to Aslan."

Aslan, you are precious. I am mystified how God is creating you this
very second. Awe-struck I am that God has blessed your Mom and me with
you.  Aslan, you are from The Savior and His you will remain. Your Mom
and I are humbled that the Lord has entrusted you to your Mom and I for
18 years. During that time we will teach how to fly my precious son.
May God whisper your name even now and may His voice comfort you now
as he mends and puts His final touches on you beofre your arrival.

My son you have been prayed for by your Momma and me for some time. We can't wait until you get here! Today I am praying that God grant you His knowledge, His counsel, and His understanding.

The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of power,
the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD -
                               Isaiah 11:2

This verse is enscribed on my wedding ring. Your Momma prayed this for me everyday before we got married. Maybe she could see into the future and look what dumb things I would do and the super-buttheadish things I would say to her? Maybe thats's why she prayed that for me...ha-ha.! Aslan, your Momma loved me so much that she prayed for me. Prayed that verse for me. There's power in prayer, son. That's why we pray for you, even now as you are still in your "one-womb" apartment. So now I pray the same verse for you. Why? Because it's a tangled mess of a world. Your gonna go through some times when what feels good to you sounds a whole lot better than anything your Momma or I or the Pastor has said to you. It's in those times when we are not around when you will have to make some crucial decisions. So I pray Isaiah 11:2 over you now so that by the time you get old enough to be introduced to those situations you will have God's influence on you so much that you will know to follow Christ. And who knows? Maybe you'll even get a chance to share your faith with the ones who asked you to do those stupid things.

Aslan, your Mom and I are praying for you. We love you so much. When you get here in March...you, your Momma, and me...crazy get together bash at our place!

The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him—
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of power,
the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD -
                                        Isaiah 11:2

How to Hurt Your Witness in Less Than 10 Days: A Response to a Basketball Game I Went to Last Friday Night.

January 08 2006
Alot of smack has been dished out here the last couple of days. Over what?! A basketball game. A basketball game! Seigal. Oakland. Riverdale, Blackman, and MTCS. 5 schools. 5 different mascots. 5 seperate school colors. Each unique and great. But when people take their school spirit over the line and allow their emotions to get the best of them, allowing them to fight, throw water bottles that cut a person so bad she has to get a staple in her head...you have stop the record and reflect. For my Christian brothers and sisters out there have you forgotten that you have self-control through what Jesus did on the cross for you? When did you give in to anger and cruel remarks to bring people down verbally? Have you substituted your fleeting school spirit for the Holy Spirit? When it's all said and done in 80-100 years for us on this earth will you look back on your life and be at peace with how well you got across to someone of the opposite school your distatse for them? My Christian friends' I pray that it would eat at you at your deepest parts that you would rather defame someone, tear down someone, and/or physically hurt somone instead of showing the love that Jesus gave us. A love we never deserved because we rejected Him.

Christian friends I strongly urge you NOT TO allow yourselves to be caught up in anything that would harm your witness for our Lord, Jesus Christ.

Philippians 2:1-5

Imitating Christ's Humility

1 If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, 2 then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose. 3 Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. 4 Each of you should look not only to your own interests, but also to the interests of others.
5 Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus..."

As Christians that have a personal relationship with Christ we have the same attitude of Jesus. Let's put our godly attitudes to use and make an impact upon this culture win or lose.

Not Meant to Be: AO Upended 6-18.

November 10 2005
For the last 4 games Alpha Omega had thier offense and defense clicking on all cylinders. Tuesday night AO's cylinders broke down.

Lagauna Beach didn't have anything on the drama that insued Tuesday night between AO and the Bayside Tigers. Bayside Tigers had more personal fouls than offensive plays, yelled and cussed more than a Kanye West cd, and had 2 players ejected from the game. AO managed to keep their cool and most importantly, their witness, and didn't retaliate in midst of the chaos. Bayside Tiger players argued what seemed every call and taunted AO players what seemed every play. Inspite of their behavior the Bayside Tigers made all the plays. Bayside's suffocating defense had AO quarterback Clint Nadeau running for his life most of the night. AO's only toucdown came with a minute remaining. It was old times when Clint Nadeau hooked up for a 25 yard touchdown pass to his favorite receiver James Alfonso. Alfonso out jumped the defender and made an amazing catch to give AO 6 points.

After the game AO quarterback, Clint Nadeau, had this to say about the game, "God was glorified tonight in our team. I hate to play in the situation we played in tonight. But we kept our focus tonight. Hopefully people saw Christ in us and that stirs up something inside them. God gets all the glory. We're out here to make Him known to our campus. Tonight wasn't meant to be. We play by the verse on our shirts 1 Corinthians 10:31. That means even in defeat we are to give God glory."

Despite the insanity AO was able to pray with Bayside's whole team at the end of the game. AO shared the hope that they have in Jesus Christ and invited them to AO on Wednesday nights and Sunday School.

AO has made the playoffs 4 straight years. In 4 seasons AO has a 16-6 record. Tuesday night was the end of an era for AO. Seniors Daniel Paterson (offensive line), Scott Maxwell (defensive end), and Clint Nadeau (quarterback/captain) played their last game for AO.

AO wishes to thank their fans for their support and prayers. Continue to pray that the seeds planted with the teams that AO prayed with that God would open up their hearts so that they could feel Him at work in their life. Ultimately, giving their lives to Jesus Christ.

Third Year a Charm for AO?

November 04 2005
For two years Alpha Omega College Ministry has made it to the playoffs. AO continues the trend for the third straight year. AO (4-1) will pay the Bayside Tigers Monday night November 7th at 7pm at the MTSU intamural field in the 1st round of the 2005 Men's "A" League Flag Football Championships. Nothing is known about Bayside excpet that AO anticipates Zach Morris, Kelly Capowski, Lisa Turtle, A.C. Slater, and Skreetch to start. Not really. Just playin'.

If AO wins against Bayside AO will play at 9pm. Semi-finals and the championship game will be played Wednesday night. AO has been here before. Could their third time in the playoffs finally see them win the coveted 100% cotton champion's t-shirt? AO hopes so.

Please continue to pray for AO as they reach MTSU students for Christ at the MTSU intramural field.
