I'm at Governor's School now and it's nice.
I can't really describe it much.

Now, here's an interesting topic, discussed today in my art class, which I would like your opinion on.
What is art?
What isn't art?
If someone painted a white canvas white, would you consider that art?

My husband is an artist and I asked him what he thought about this:
What is art? I tend to prefer not to try and define it. A simple explanation is that art is human creation with intended meaning.
Well, that's all he had to say on the topic...I would say another added thing from someone who doesn't create art but does like it: I think that whether something is art or not can depend on whether it has meaning for the audience. Certain things appeal to one person while another might think it is a horrible piece. This is why I think it would be hard to judge art critically because everyone has different tastes.
By the way, I liked something you commented on someone else's page the other day about Bush. It was very insightful and well-worded. It's good to see that people are thinking for themselves about the issues and seeing leaders for what they are.

art- anything that expresses something of, inside, or around the human body for a purpose of connecting with another human spirit. White canvas- yes... did you know people hang those up for interior design purposes????

Art is an expression of something portrayed in a unique way. However, I don't think art is about the "mumbo jumbo" of just slopping something carelessly onto canvas and trying to make something of it. I think when you really put time and thought into it, and turn something, like a canvas or a piece of clay, into something else that reflects a part of you or the world you live in, then that's art. When you paint a white canvas white, in my opinion, you aren't changing the canvas nor are you creating anything. You're just trying to make a statement by doing something retarded... lol... you can probably guess by now what kind of art I like...

Art has to mean something, but sometimes people just spew random crud out to pretend like it's art. Nonetheless, that's the price we have to pay to get real art. Depending on the meaning behind the white painting, it may be art, but that still wouldn't justify anyone paying money for it.
