Sermon on John 21

November 29 2005
Well I thought my sermon went well today, praise God. But then I went to ask my teacher what he thought of it and well....... He wasnt too fond to say the least! I am so mad cuz i try so hard but I am so stinkin afraid of public speaking and it is hard enough for me to even be able to say a word much less a whole sermon. Yet I want to do good so bad! I just wish it came natural to me. I think I am going to go back and talk to him again and try to get some advices. oh well at lest I am done with the class. But this goes beyond this class, I want to be good at preaching and I feel like this class didnt help a whole lot. I just got up there and tried to get it right with nothing to show for it.

yeah i know what u mean. Sometimes u do something to improve at it and then u seem to end up failing. But in the end, it always makes us stronger. Peace ~ Garrett

Hey man... I bet it went better than he thought it did... You had some good stuff last night. Be encouraged. God placed that passion in your heart for a reason. See you later tonight!

I agree with Nathan, i am sure you did great. And you are not walking away with nothing, you have experience coming up with sermons, experience speaking, and you are learning what works and what doesn't. All of those things make the hard times worth it. I am sure that Billy Grahm's first sermons were not the best ever. Not that yours aren't great, because I really believe that they are, I'm just saying that you have to cut yourself some slack if your teacher didn't think that they rocked his socks off. Love you

Hey buddy, I agree with Bethany. Get advice from your teachers and stuff, but your success in preaching will come from one source, the Holy Spirit. If you could cement into your spirit that He is the only one you need approval from, wow, what an incredible preacher you will be! God has placed in you the passion, and He has also given you your specific method. Maybe that is what God wanted you to learn through the class. It's not about getting it right. It's about annointing in God, which comes through intense intimacy with Him. Reading your stuff and your entries, I know God is molding you into an incredible preacher that is going to make a big difference in people's lives.

It has been my experience that teachers tend to tear you down in order to build you up. Constructive criticism....:) it's fun stuff. Anywho dont let it get you down, I know you did like a thousand times better than I ever could :) I love you.
