Andy Stanley

So Andy Stanley (sp) left the church of his father, Charles Stanley (sp), and the Southern Baptist Church as a whole to start his own church. He and this other guy sat down and looked at several religions to find the ideals that would be most appealing to people and step on the fewest toes. With this in mind, he wrote his church's doctrine.

While that doesnt necessarily screw them over as Christians, since I would guess that they looked at denominations instead of religions (let me know if you know I'm off base), that still is sorta questionable. While I dont think denominationalism or being Southern Baptist really means anything, it can make people question. Sounds like certain other churches I know of.

I did some more reading and that seems to follow. He made that change in '95 from what I can tell, and he seems pretty well grounded. Though there are many people who consider him, Rick Warren and "The Purpose Driven Life," John Elderidge of "Wild at Heart" fame, and Bruce Wilkinson of "The Prayer of Jabez" and their theology to be just short of heretical. It is insteresting reading, if sometimes annoying and confusing more than helpful
