Tech advice...

So, I am thinking about either getting replay TV or Tivo. Does anyone have one? If so, do you like it? Do you like the service? I was leaning more towards replay TV, but I read some reviews saying their customer service blows. So, any advice on the subject would be great.
I am also looking for a jump/thump drive. I was wanting a 1 GB, but I saw some on ebay that are 60GB and are only like $20-30 more than the 1GB. They are small(probably a little bigger than a cell phone) and would fit in a pocket or purse. I don't know much about these, or even if it would be worth it, so if there is an expect on external memory, let me know.
Hope everyone is having a good day! I realized yesterday that every minute that passes can never be captured again. Crazy, huh? Make the most of it.

First of all, you know I have a replayTV. I like it. I think it is better than tivo. You do know that you will need to somehow hook it into our home network or telephone line to download the program guides... just a thought. Also, the 60GB drive you saw on ebay is an actual hard drive. Thumb drives use what is called flash memory... sompletely solid state. The small hard drive actually have moving parts and that is why they are larger. If you are looking for something to carry around easily, I would go with the thumb drive with flash memory (the 1GB). These have less failure issues as well. And external hard drives can have a difficult time reading between Mac and Windows. Flash drives usually do not have these problems. Hope that helps.

Don't forget about the iPod shuffle. It is a flash based device that will act as a thumb drive. If you do not have an iPod this may be a good option for you.

screw getting replayTV or Tivo...you can buy like a DVD burner with a hard-drive that does the same thing, and allows you to edit. i've got a 256mb jumpdrive from Lexar that is no bigger than a stick of chapstick that i have on my keyring, and i love it. i always have my resume and my fav pics on hand! go for it!

I have friends that have Tivo and I love going to their houses to watch stuff. I couldn't tell you which is better, just that the ability to record and replay TV with such ease is AWESOME. I wish I could advise about the better system. As for the jump drive (at first I mistyped that as "hump drive"- that's so dirty!), I am with Nathan. If you always carry around something with moving parts, it is going to take some wear and tear. It is unlikely to be as reliable, so go with the tried and true jump drive. Then if something happens to it, it won't seem like as much of a catastrophe. :) Looking forward to lunch with you!

Bethany,
Thank you for the encouragement. You are right I did know all of that already, but it helps to have people remind me. It makes me so happy to know that right now God has a plan for me, and it is so completely different and so much better than my own. Anyway I just wanted to say thank you for that little reminder :)

Bethany, Carla told me about your granddad. Stuff like that is so difficult to deal with. I am praying for your whole family...
