Well I am tired...

July 02 2005
I know that I didn't do anything really today, but I am tired. I hope that everyone had a good night.

We ended up at the park again, then went to watch a movie at Amy's house. These are the good times.

I am off the search the internet for a new head unit for my car that will work with my iPod and then play a little guitar.

Peace

Today was great. I think soon I am going to get a Powerbook soon...hopefullly. I really hope that it is before the first semester ends.

Anyways, we all ended up at the park again tonight. That was fun and we all got ice cream at McDonalds.

Just a quick inside joke:

"I would like a sundae."

" Do you want fudge?"

"Yeah"

"Nuts?"

Awkward silence......"No, that ok"

I am off to try to become a famous gutiar player....

This is so cool

June 30 2005
I am writing this blog on my dads new Mac Mini. This thing is so cool.

Anyways, I went to see War of the Worlds today with Rachel, Justin, and Amy. It is an interesting movie. You should definitely go see it.

Then, we all went to the Andy Davis concert at Exit/In in Nashville. He is really good. You guys need to listen to him. (those that dont already)

Other than that not too much going on except that Apple just released a new iPod with a color screen that costs the same as the one that I just bought. Oh Well...

Long time, no talk

June 29 2005
Sorry about not posting in a while, I have just been caught up in life lately.

Well I got some good news and bad news.

Why not the bad news first?

I just found out that I will have the worst schedule in the history of colleges because my orientation is one of the last ones, and most of the classes are full. Oh well, the way that I think about this is that God wants me to be there because he may give me the opprotunity to share HIM with someone that needs him.

The good news (and thank God there is alot of it):

I will be rooming with Kyle at UTK in the fall.

I am so excited to be going to Paint the Town: NYC in a few weeks. I know that God is going to do something amazing.

I am also excited that I get to be a role model for over 250 teenagers right before the NYC trip at TASC Leadership camp.

If anyone has been keeping up with my posts, then you will be happy to know that I have been free of one personal sin for coming on 4 weeks. PRAISE GOD. He has been working on wonderful things in my life lately because of my decision to turn everything over to him and not just the things that are convienent at the time. Just an update for those who wanted to know, I have been doing pretty good about the whole no- dating thing. It is really hard because of all the struggles that I see everyday, but God is helping me to protect my eyes from things that will be detrimental to my walk with him.

On a different note, I dont know what I am going to be doing tonight, so if anyone wants to hang out just call me up.

PS to Amy and Justin: I did find a fav. Matt Wertz song: number 11, listen to it

I am learning...

June 24 2005
I had a great night.......we ended up at the park once again, which is a great place. I started to learn how to play guitar.

Then we all went to J-MO's house and watched Kindergarten Cop, which is really funny.

But I think that I really am learning things from this whole no dating thing. I have overcome alot of struggles already, but with God by my
side I am ready to take them all on. I know that the worst times are to come, but I think that I am ready.

Wow....

June 23 2005
Tonight was one of the greatest night that I have had in a while. It started out in Hickory Hollow Mall, then we went to eat at the best restaraunt ever.... Moe's Grill.(one of my personal favorites).

After all of that Chris, Amy, Justin, Josh, J-Mo, Rachel, Kayla, and me all went to Bon Hoffer's, which is the coolest place ever next ot campus because it is in a loft and its a coffee shop with live music. We went to watch one of Justin's friends and Sean McConnell play. Both we totally awesome.

Then a group of us went to the park and two of the guys played guitar for a couple hours. Summer nights are just awesome. It is so beautiful outside. I would like to do stuff like this more often.

Other than that today was much like any other day, just with a little more struggle because of the decision that I made last night. I think that I made it hard on my self, without knowing it. But that is another story, for another time.

Just to let everyone know...

June 23 2005
I am not joining a frat. at UTK, because of many reasons. First, I don't agree with some of the things that they do and I dont like the fact that I have to PAY for friends. Second, I believe that it would affect my spiritual walk with God. Just to clear that up for everyone.

Last night, I decided that I would write down what happened everyday in a journal. I think that it would be good for me to be able to see the struggles that I have been through and the obstacles that are still to come, all while reminding myself of the things that God has revealed to me along the way. (with the whole dating thing)

I am about to go to the mall, and then heading into Mboro to listen to one of Justin's friends play music next to the Blue Raider Book Store.

June 22 2005
Just to let everyone know...I am taking a total break from dating because of what I think that God is trying to tell me about my self and I am not depressed right now. I am really on a spiritual high. So dont take any of this the wrong way.

I have been thinking lately...Who am I? I know who I stand for and what I believe in, but who am I? You could of asked me that a couple of weeks ago, and I would have been able to tell you that I am Jason Thacker, a freshman at the University of Tenn. at Knoxville that is wanting to major in Pre-med and Nursing. I want to join a frat. and get involved with the SGA....and I would have went on with a whole lot of stuff that I have accomplished and things that I would like to do.

But now when I think about it...Big Stuf has had a profound effect on me...better yet... God has radically changed my life and shook my world up. I don't know who I really am, all I know is what I stand for.

I know that I am cutting this short, but I will leave you with one question that I heard my buddy Justin ask J-MO tonight:

What is your passion?

Tonight....

June 20 2005
So today was a hoot...

I started out by getting my tags for the car and realizing that they cost a whole lot...but I did get a cool UTK vanity plate out of the deal.

Then after I got home from the gym, I got my package in the mail that I had been waiting on for like 3 weeks...new part for my car. That was fun putting that on, but it looks great.

But I got a letter in the mail saying that I was a counselor for the annual Tenn. Association of Student Council's leadership camp later on in the summer. My council (group of kids) is given a place (its part of the theme) that we will make our council's theme. We got Washington, DC. If you guys would not mind helping me out, could you give me ideas on how I could use this theme (decorations, costumes, ideas)? Anything would be useful...thanks in advance. But I have to say that I am a little nervous about being a counselor... I am just wondering about how the campers will respond to me....you know that I am not that much older than they are...but I am just going to leave it with God and I know that the best will turn out.

On a totally different note:
Chris and I went and saw the new Batman movie.... which absolutely rocks!!! And I just got home.

But I have been thinking lately about life (I know what your thinking: Jason's THINKING!!!).
I have always been told that once you give everything you are to God, the devil want what he THINKS is his back and will do anything to get it. I now know this to be true. My life over the past week has made a complete 180 degree turn in God's way, and the devil is trying so hard to get me back. God has been showing me lately parts of my life that need working on and I am proud to say that I have been free of one personal sin for well over a week (which is the longest ever). Praise GOD!!! I am so unbelieveably happy that I can step out on faith and lean on God to get me through life.

There are two verses that have been helping me out lately:

"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your minds, so that you may discern what is the will of God - what is good and acceptable and perfect."

Romans 12:2 NAS

"And whatever you do or say, let it be as a representative of the Lord Jesus, all the while giving thanks through him to God the Father."

Colossians 3:17 NLT

I think that these two are my new life verses.

*Just remember that I am a random thinker. Things just always pop out of my head.

My iPod has been very helpful lately in keeping me close with God... I decided that when I got it, I would only fill it with songs that will keep my focus on God and his awesome power and beauty. I have songs that remind me of the good time that I have had and also lots of worship songs. It is nice to always have worship songs with me, because now I am always singing to my God.

I am about to hit the sack but I would like to tell everyone that Cranium in Starbucks when your bored is a great way to waste time. I saw so many people in Starbucks tonight.

I hope that everyone has a great night and day tommarow.

iPod

June 19 2005
Last night, I went out and got myself an iPod. It is a cool little gadget, if I do say so myself. I have already put a whole lot a songs and albums on it.

Anyways, I went to Belle Aire Church this morning with my mom. We really like the church. I think that we are going to go back next week. I just wanted everyone out there to know that Belle Aire is a church that is really centered on God and welcomes you with open arms. I will have to finish this story after it unfolds.

I hope that everyone is having a great father's day especially the dads out there.

Jason

Last Night

June 17 2005
I had a great time last night. A big group of us went to Dancin' in the District in Nashville to see Gavin Degraw, Matt Wertz, and some cover bands. I really liked Matt Wertz in concert and I liked his music being that it was the first time that I had heard it. Gavin Degraw was not that good. He has alot of songs that I dont like and he really doesn't have a stage presense like other artist and Matt Wertz.

After the concert, We (Justin and his friends along with Amy, Rachel, and I) all went to Waffle House in M'Boro. That was an experience in itself.

By the way, I think that I have finally caught up on my sleep from Big Stuf. I slept until 12:30 pm today. And I finished God's Blogs, one of the best books that I have ever read. Just a side note, I am going to be a camp councelor at Tenn. Association of Student Council's annual Leadership Camp later on in the summer, I would like to thank God for that opprotunity.

Just one last note, I just want everyone to know that it is one of the most rewarding things to do, yet one of the hardest things to do, to turn over those strongholds in your life over to God, those strongholds that you THOUGHT you were the king of, but you really weren't. I have found a true happiness that I did not know existed on this earth...

Got a Job!!

June 16 2005
I just got home from my interview at Kohl's Department Store. I would like to thank God for allowing me to be the new POS (Cashier) Supervisor of the Murfreesboro location. I should start in the next week... as long as the drug test and references go through... and they WILL.

I hope that everyone is having a great day and for those that are went to BigStuf, I hope that you guys catch up on your sleep.

I hopefully will be going to Dancin in the District tonight, so if anyone else wants to go just call me on my cell phone.

Just remember one question that God asks us everyday....

Do you believe in HIM?
or Do you believe HIM?

Just Got Home

June 15 2005
Well I just got home from Big Stuf 05 in Panama CIty Beach,FLA.

It was the one of the best experiences of my life. I have never felt as close to God as I do right now. I don't want to loose sight of what I was put on the earth for ....."Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age."
Matthew 28:19-20 NLT

I want everyone to know that I sponsored a child in Tanzania over the trip. His name is Augustino Keneth Ngalo. He is currently 14 years old. Please remember him and his family in your prayers.

*I am totally new to this blog thing, so I am just going to be typing stuff as it comes to my mind, sorry if it confuses you.

I am currently reading God's Blogs by Lanny Donaho. This book is wrote in the perspective of God speaking directly to you. It is the best book that I have ever read, except for the Holy word, of course. I encourage everyone to read it at least once.

Just one last note before I go to bed tonight. I learned this past week that I need to turn everything over to God and not just parts of my life. I am finally going to trust him with "all" of my soul and life. I know that he will give me everything that I need, when I need it.

Thanks Amy Bonin for introducing me to this site. Only you will really understand that last part....

God Bless
