Optimism vs. Pessimism

March 23 2007
Somebody want to explain to me why its better to be optimistic about something and allow yourself to wish that something to happen only to let it get you down when it doesn't happen?  And why, in this case would pessimism be better because then your not let down when something happens, thus making it more exciting when something good does happen?

Just food for thought....

Leadership...an everday thing

February 26 2007
So this weekend was the WILD trip that I led. It went amazing..at least
in my opinion...give or take a little rain now and then j/k. But it got
me thinking about somethings. I mean I understand how important being a
leader is in every aspect of my life. I mean being a leader isn't just
about bossing people around, its about being an example in all of your
actions, no matter how innocent they may seem.

Now there are
many ways a person can be a leader, one for example is being an older
sibling. I happen to have plenty of experience in this area of life.
But I didn't stop to think about the impact that I have on my younger
siblings. I mean I hear the whole thing about "they just want to be
like you." Now, that I actually think about it, thats a pretty scary
responsibility. I mean to have (in my case) three young boys always
watching your every move to immulate you.

Another way a person
can be a leader is how they treat people. This can be a hard leader to
be. I mean I know I don't always treat people the way they should be
treated but I always try my best to do what I think is right...whether
other people agree with my decisions or not.

The single most
difficult leader is a spiritual leader. This is, in my opinion the
HARDEST leader to be. I mean instead of just younger siblings you have
the whole world watching your every move and waiting for you to mess
up. But, when you mess up, you have the weight of being a christian on
your shoulders. I mean not in a bad way, just the fact that everyone is
waiting for you to mess up just because your a christian. Now I'm not
saying that I'm perfect, because this is the area I struggle with on a
daily basis. I mean it's hard to be around people that don't believe
the same as you do and not fall into some of the patterns that they do.

I know that I'm not perfect, but I would give anything just to
make someone else's day a little brighter because I am who I am and no
one's going to change that...except GOD. And then I know it will only
be for the betterment of my life and actions, and the people around me.
Being a leader means being true to yourself. No matter who your around
or who your trying to impress.

So when it boils down to it, are you the kind of leader that you want to be seen as?

I'm BAAACK

February 18 2007
Well, winter break is officially over tommorrow....I mean I have to go back to school. But it has definately been an exciting and fun break.  I went to Florida and canoed 55-60 miles.  This was extremely fun and annoying at times.  I mean not the trip being annoying...just some of the people on the trip kinda got on my nerves, but whatever.

But yeah it was amazing we canoed on the Santa Fe River, the Itchnutucknee, and the Suwanee River.  There was a lot of great memories made on this trip and I'm really glad I went.

But I have tons of homework to do before school tommorrow so I'll out more up later.

Horse Bowl

February 03 2007
So I'm on my way to the great MTSU for another 4-H competition, Horse Bowl.  I hope we do pretty well.  But yeah I thought I should post and other than that nothing new is going on except my CAT grade is going up (not a kitty cat...College Algebra and Trig).  This increase in my grade really makes me happy...we'll see how long it lasts.  But other than that not much.

Oh yeah...over winter break in 2 weeks I'm going to Florida on a canoe trip.  It should be fun. I'm really excited.  Hopefully we'll get some great weather.  But yeah its going to be really interesting with the group thats going.

But I have to go finish getting ready so I'll post more later.

Soooo....

February 01 2007
Anyone care to explain why Webb didn't get out of school today when everyone else in the area did???

hmmmm.....

:-(

Quote from a movie......

January 28 2007
So I just heard this quote in a movie and had to share it with everyone...

"If you keep walking long enough you might find a valley where no one has ever had a broken heart...but if you ask me that would be a pretty loveless place."
             - "Valley of Light"

But yeah so life is going pretty good right now and I hope it stays that way for a long time.

Happy Birthday to Me........

January 19 2007
So yesterday was my 17th birthday.....

Nothing exciting though...oh well

Passing Through

January 12 2007
Do you ever feel like your just passing through in life??  I mean like your just an add on to everyone else's lives.  I mean its like you don't feel like you belong and your friends are acting strange and you just feel like a tagalong.  I dunno .... maybe thats just my thoughts about my life lately.

I need some prayers. so any would be greatly appreciated.

Late night reruns....

December 23 2006
So staying up later can actually teach you something every now and
then.  I mean for example...tonight I stayed up and watched reruns of
Boy Meets World.  I know what your thinking what lessons can you learn
from Boy Meets World.

Well, I got to thinking about Cory and Topanga.  You know the classic,
met in elementary school, grew up together, fell in love, became high
school sweethearts, got married...etc.  This is the kind of couple
everybody wants to be part of someday.  But what if this was standard.
I mean what if this was all anybody ever knew anything different.  What if we didn't know
that this type of relationship was so special.

If everyone had a Cory and Topanga kind of love what kind of world
would we live in? I mean we all would have a certain someone that we
would have know forever and ever, but how would we know how lucky we
are if everyone had the same kind of relationship.

It would make us all a little less eager to have a relationship that
was worth working and maybe fighting for...I mean if we always knew that we were going to end up together.

So for me I'll just live my life the way I was meant to...WITHOUT a
Cory and Topanga kind of love and just wait for my special someone to
come for me.

Hmmmm......

December 22 2006
I don't have a lot to say.....I just thought I'd put something up.

Life

December 17 2006
So yeah...my post.  I've really had time to post lately, but well see how this goes.

So finals were a couple of days ago.  I was lucky and got finished on Thursday and didn't have to go to school on Friday, which allowed me to hang out with some of my really good friends at the December 4-H Honor Club meeting.

This also allowed me to realize some things about myself that I really didn't want to realize. But its all good now and I am at peace with some things that have been in the back of my mind lately.

So yeah Christmas break is going good so far, and its just going to get better...i hope.  I mean I'm going to get my license and my hair cut and me and becca are going to go shopping for my dress for the semi-formal at school.  So I can't wait.

But life is really good right now and I'm really excited about starting the new year with some new ideas and feelings about things.  I know that it will take some work, but I am totally ready to have a change of heart about some things and deal with others.

So yeah, this is a really long post.  I'll put more up later.

EIGHT DAYS UNTIL CHRISTMAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

sorry...

December 13 2006
I've been neglecting to post because of finals this week, but as soon as they are over I will post a post worth reading...promise

wow....

December 08 2006
So why is it that all of friends are getting coupled up and forgetting all about me???

I mean I just dont get it...are friends not important anymore??

Christmas

December 08 2006
LAST CHRISTMAS...THIS CHRISTMAS

Last Christmas we were thinking about all the things we didn't have.
This Christmas we are thinking about all the things we do have.

Last Christmas we were placing wreaths on the doors of our homes. This
Christmas we are placing wreaths on the graves of our heroes.

Last Christmas we were counting our money.
This Christmas we are counting our blessings.

Last Christmas we thought a man who could rush down a football field
was a hero.
This Christmas we know a man who rushes into a burning
building is the real one.

Last Christmas we paid lip service to the real meaning of the holidays.
This Christmas we are paying homage to it.

Last Christmas we were lighting candles to decorate.
This Christmas we are lighting candles to commemorate.

Last Christmas we were trying not to let annoying relatives get the
best of us.
This Christmas we are trying to give the best of ourselves to
them.

Last Christmas we thought it was enough to celebrate the holidays.
This Christmas we know we must also find ways to consecrate them.

Last Christmas we were thinking about the madness of the holidays.
This Christmas we are thinking about the meaning of them.

Last Christmas we were getting on each other's nerves.
This Christmas we are getting on our knees.

Last Christmas we were giving thanks for gifts from stores.
This Christmas we are giving thanks for gifts from God.

Last Christmas we were wondering how to give our children all the
things that money can buy - the hottest toys, the latest fashions, the
newest gadgets.
This Christmas we are wondering how to give them all the
things it can't - a sense of security, safety, peace.

Last Christmas we were thinking about all the pressure we are under at
the office.
This Christmas we are thinking about all the people who no
longer have an office to go to.

Last Christmas we were singing carols.
This Christmas we are singing anthems.

Last Christmas we were thinking how good it would feel to be affluent.
This Christmas we are thinking how good it feels to be alive.

Last Christmas we thought angels were in heaven.
This Christmas we know some are right here on earth.

Last Christmas we believed in the power of the pocketbook.
This Christmas we believe in the power of prayer.

Last Christmas we were sharing/spreading/listening to gossip.
This Christmas we are sharing/spreading/listening to the Gospel.

Last Christmas we valued things that were costly.
This Christmas we value things that are holy.

Last Christmas the people we idolized wore football, basketball and
baseball uniforms.
This Christmas the people we idolize wear police,
firefighters and military uniforms.

Last Christmas "peace on earth" is something we prayed for on Sunday
mornings.
Now it is something we pray for every day.

UGH

Hello Oakland!!

November 27 2006
So I went to Oakland today and visited some people.  I was able to talk about Webb for an entire class period.  That was fun.  But I did have fun seeing people and talking to people I hadn't seen in a really long time.

It also made me realize how different things are at Webb than public school.  But I guess thats a good thing and a bad thing.  I miss a bunch of people and hope that everyone misses me. But at the same time..I am really glad that I'm at Webb.

But I have to go finish up some SPEECH homework. (UGH!!!!!!) So I'll post more later.

Declamation

November 01 2006
So yeah I'm very happy to be finished with my declamation.  This thought makes me extremely happy.

AMAZING!!!

October 26 2006

Since the Pledge of Allegiance

and
The Lord's Prayer
are not allowed in most

public schools anymore

Because the word "God" is mentioned....

A kid in Arizona wrote this new prayer.

Now I sit me down in school
Where praying is against the rule
For this great nation under God
Finds mention of Him very odd.

If Scripture now the class recites,
It violates the Bill of Rights.
And anytime my head I bow
Becomes a Federal matter now.

Our hair can be purple, ORANGE or green,
That's no offense; it's a freedom scene.
The law is specific, the law is precise.
Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice.

For praying in a public hall
Might offend someone with no faith at all.
In silence alone we must meditate,
God's name is prohibited by the state.

We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks,
And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks.
They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible.
To quote the Good Book makes me liable.

We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen,
And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King.
It's "inappropriate" to teach right from wrong,
We're taught that such "judgments" do not belong.

We can get our condoms and birth controls,
Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles.
But the Ten Commandments are not allowed,
No word of God must reach this crowd.

It's scary here I must confess,

When chaos reigns the school's a mess.

So, Lord, this silent plea I make:

Should I be shot; My soul please take!

Amen
