It was fun while it lasted

July 29 2008
Wow. Has facebook officially killed phusebox?  I'm pretty sure I hadn't logged on in two years or something, ever since I got a facebook. This site was so cool, and I know a lot of hard work was put into it, and yet another more well known site was able to come along and beat it out. Sad. Should I unjoin since I am obviously not keeping up with stuff here?

Isn't responsibility great?

March 15 2006

Ok, I realize it has been a long while since I've updated.  But just so you know, I do read all my friend's updates almost everyday because I like keeping up with people.  :)  I haven't updated because I've been waiting for something exciting to happen, something worthy of sharing with everyone.  Also I've been really busy.  And although I still haven't heard back from any grad schools or jobs (and thus still don't know what's going to happen after graduation), there is some excitement next week because I am going to Honduras on another engineering mission trip.  I did this last May, but I am more nervous now because I am the team leader of one of the projects and I am so scared of messing something up or forgeting something important.  Is this what the rest of my life is going to be like?  Designing something with the hope that I don't forget something important and no one gets hurt?  I'm not sure I can take it.  It really is a big responsibility.  Am I ever going to be confident of my own skills and knowledge?  I pray that one day I can be.

Speaking of prayers, we need them.  Please pray for our team, that we travel safely, work efficiently, and serve selflessly.  Thanks!

Hmm, I guess I only have two exciting updates.

1) I was in Susan (Bailey) Beaird's wedding on March 4th.  It was beautiful.  She was gorgeous.  It was a great day.  And now my two very bestest friends are married.  I pray that God has someone in store for me that is as wonderful as the guys that He has blessed them with.  I still can't believe that me and my friends are old enough to get married...

2) I get to go to Europe!  My dad and I are going to tour with Lipscomb's A Cappella in early June!  We are going to Germany, Austria, Italy, and the Czech Republic over 10 days.  I am SO excited!  The choir director that both my dad and I had at Lipscomb is retiring, so this is like his last hurrah.  Works for me!!!  If anyone has hints about Munich, Salzburg, Vienna, Venice, or Prague, talk to me!

Ok, I think that's long enough for now.

Until next time...  :)

I think it's time...

January 19 2006

It occured to me that if I continue on my current path, I am going to graduate college and go onto life having never had a 'real' boyfriend.  Yes, I've had little dabbles at relationships, but none where all the boyfriend/girlfriend protocol were followed.  Not only is this sad, but it scares me.  So far I have managed to either elude the eye of every elligible guy, attract weird ones, or come up with excuses so that whoever might have been pursuing me didn't have a chance.  I don't know what my deal is.  I mean, wake up Elizabeth, if you are holding out for the perfect guy, you are going to be waiting a looooong time (like till you get to heaven).  Ok, ok, fine.  So what can I do about it?  I don't know, honestly.  *Sigh*  I know one thing though, I am going to try to not use the excuse of "I don't have the time" anymore.  Ok, so I'm still busy, but not as much as usual, and how many people do I know that are as crazy or crazier than I am who are still in a relationship?  Yeah, so, that excuse doesn't work anymore.  I'm still going to draw the line on weirdos because I'm not that desperate.  :)  But who am I kidding?  I can be weird...  There just has to be someone out there who can appreciate me with all my little quirks, can laugh with me and my sense of humor, and share my beliefs.  I'm not trying to short change God.  I know that if there is someone for me, we will find each other at the right time.  But can't I at least get a little practice while I'm waiting?  ;-)

Are we only happy when we are busy?

January 13 2006

Alright.  I have officially completed the first week of my last semester of undergraduate college.  That's weird!!!  So far I can't complain!  I only have 3 classes on MWF!  But knowing me, I'll find plenty of things to fill up my 'free time.'  Why is it that as soon as I have 'free time' I feel lazy?  I guess I'm just so used to being crazy.  The thing is, senior design project hasn't even started up yet, and I know that will take loads of time, and the lab I am going to help out with hasn't started yet either.  (Don't ask me why I volunteered to do that!)  In short, my time will undoubtedly be filled, so why can't I just enjoy it now?  Man, I haven't even mentioned the mission trip, ASME, or Singarama!  *Enjoy it while you can Elizabeth...Enjoy it while you can*  Alright, self, I'll try...

Oh by the way, all the senior engineering students passed that huge test we took in October!  This is huge!  The best part is that I think I got the highest score of all the mechanics folks.  I feel special.  :)

On another note, here are some pics from my friend Ashley's wedding!  (and our christmas pic for you Susan!)

Christmas Break Rundown

January 03 2006

Ok, so I know most younglings had to go back to school today, but me, being a cool (ok, maybe not cool, but at least older) college student don't have to go back till next Monday.  (Yeah, I don't even want to hear about it MTSU students :) )  So, how has your break been so far?  Mine's been pretty good!  I so needed a break.  I'm not really ready to go back.  I mean, not only is it a return to school, but it's a return to my last semester of undergraduate college.  I have no idea what I'm doing after graduation.  No clue.  And that scares me.

Anyway, as I was saying, I've had a pretty good break.  I've been able to hang out with friends, see lots of movies with my fam (we like doing that), read, procrastinate on my grad school applications, and play with my new ipod.  And break is not over yet!  I'm visiting Rose-Hulman (in Indiana) tomorrow and Thursday, and one of my best friends is getting married on Saturday!  Man, that is weird.

Yeah, so I've been having fun.  What have you been up to?  Whatever it is, it can't have been as exciting as rearranging the pantry with my mom yesterday!  :)

Oh so close!

December 13 2005

Ok, so I survived the final last night.  I think I might have even done well on it!  And today was spent quite productively.  Haha, no.  But I did finish my takehome final and go for an hour long power walk in the cold.  *sigh* Of course then I came home and ate chinese food.  So, maybe I didn't do so well today after all.

All I have to do is show up at school tomorrow for awhile and I am out of here.  Well, actually there is a party at my place that is going to involve left-overs, white christmas, and scene-it tomorrow afternoon, so I am not actually 'out' until thursday!

Man, I am so pumped about christmas this year!  I really do love it.  Now if only I had all my shopping done...

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

Can we make it? Yes we can!

December 12 2005

First of all I'd like to thank everyone who might have prayed for me and my travels because the snow in NY worked perfectly around my schedule.  :)

Thanks for the beautiful snow, God.

My brief trip was fun.  It was my first time to stay in a hotel room by myself and everything.  I'll admit that I felt very grown up.  :)  Everyone at RPI was really nice.  I met some nice professors learned about their research.  I could see myself working with some of them, perhaps.

As I mentioned before, the snow was perfect.  It fell only on Friday, after I had already safely arrived at the hotel.  It made the campus beautiful.  There was 6 inches!  Then the snow stopped and the roads cleared in time for me to safely get back to the airport and for my plane to take off on Saturday.  I liked RPI, but there are a lot of things that would have to happen for me to go there.

Anyway, so I have a final tonight that I should be studying for, but I really have lost all motivation in that class.  I just want it to be over.  There is definitely light at the end of the tunnel though!  After tonight and one more take home test, I'm home free!  Whew.  I need a break too.  :)

Boo to seemingly unproductive days...

December 06 2005

I guess I'd better hurry up and write if I am hoping to get in an entry today.  I may already be too late, depending on when the days roll over...

Anywho, I am not a big fan of days where you can work on something all day long and still feel like you've accomplished nothing.  At least today was better than yesterday.

I am so hoping to finish this project/report tomorrow.  My life will be good again.  How can a teacher that is so nice and good take up such an incredible amount of my time?

So, the high in Albany/ Troy, NY for Friday is like 28 degrees.  I'm not sure I am capable of being prepared for such temperatures.  Just pray that the plane wings don't ice up or something.  That would be bad.

I will get this report finished tomorrow.  I will

Grrrr

Let's see if I can keep this going...

December 05 2005

Well, since this whole deal is new to me, I thought I would see if I can keep the whole entry a day thing going...  Don't worry.  It won't last long.

Today was sadly one of those days when I just feel very inadequate.  I feel like I haven't learned anything in school, or I am incapable of using what I've learned.  I feel like everyone is in a competition with everyone else, and we can't just all be friends and a team.  Well, it is sort of a competition, but that's not the point.  They shouldn't make me feel bad about my ideas...  And I think a teacher got mad at me.  I don't like it when teachers are mad at me.  Oh well, I only have to take that guy's final and I'm done with him.  For good.

Sometimes I feel like I try so hard to not get ahead, but merely to keep up, but no matter how hard I try, I end up falling behind. And I don't think there is a cure.

*Sigh*

Oh well, onto the homework...

Ideas anyone?

December 04 2005

Ok, so I need some ideas.  I still have a few presents to buy (although I'm doing pretty well if I do say so myself), and some ideas would be great...

Um, I also need ideas for one of my final projects.  Think people think.  What would be the strongest shape for tensile testing that has the greatest strength to weight ratio?  I for sure don't know.  This could be bad...

Oh, ha, and I apparently need some clarification about my post yesterday.  The lingerie party last night was for one of my best friends, not for me.  Ha.  I am single.  I am willing to change that status if anyone has any ideas though.  ;-)  Anyway I don't even think I will have a lingerie party when I get married.  Maybe I'm immature, but I just thinks it's a little weird.  Oh well.  I was the only girl there last night that was not married or engaged, but it was fun anyways.  Interesting conversations, I must say...

Tonight we have a progressive dinner with B-Hills college group.  It should be fun.  Eating is always good, especially when it's free!  I do so love the people at B-Hills.  They take care of us poor college kids.

Does anyone who might happen to read this know anything about Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY?  I get to visit there this week, but I'd really like to have some information from someone not on their payroll before I go.  I want to have some good questions ready for them...

Ok, back to one of my take-home finals...

Good luck to everyone who has finals or midterms coming up!!!

Lazy Daze

December 03 2005

Ok, so it is Saturday, and I have a long list of things to do.  Sadly, I am totally unmotivated to do any of them.

The lingerie party tonight should be interesting though...  :)

Um, so I know that some of my pictures are messed up.  I'm going to have to work on that.  I'm not quite sure why they did that.  They are mostly the ones from Disneyland I think.

Oh man, I love Christmas time.  I feel like this one is going to be a great one!

I have had this feeling for awhile that something very big, and very good, is going to happen.  I don't know if it is just me, or what, but I'm excited.  It is going to be fantastic.

'Bout time I got one of these I guess...

December 02 2005

Well, I guess this is my first post.  You can thank my sister for encouraging me to get a phusebox account.  :)

I make no promises as to how often I will update.  I'll try to though.  Goodness knows that there are times that I need to vent!

Random -- For anyone who likes Pirates of the Carribean, the new trailer is out, and oh my goodness gracious does it look good!  Do we really have to wait till July?!?

Anyway, I'm going to go try to figure this phusebox thing out...
