The rookie first-round draft pick has the Tennessee Titans (8-7), who started the season with five straight losses, alive in the AFC playoff race entering the final weekend after rallying them to a 30-29 win over the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. The doubters have motivated Young all season long. "That's all you heard all season, that a rookie's not going to be able to do this and that," Young said. "And I took that as, `Hey, let's show the world that you can do that."' Young threw two touchdown passes and rushed for another to engineer his fourth comeback in the fourth quarter or overtime. This time, he helped Tennessee overcome a 29-20 deficit in the final 12 minutes. After hitting Brandon Jones for a 29-yard touchdown pass, Young engineered a 14-play, 75-yard drive, which Rob Bironas capped with a 30-yard field goal with 2:10 left. Young's most electrifying play came at the end of the first half, when he scored on a 36-yard keeper on a fourth-and-2. The loss knocked the Bills out of playoff contention, dropping Buffalo to 7-8. Advertisement "This loss really hurts," said linebacker London Fletcher, whose team entered the game having won five of seven. "We had everything fall into place the way you want it to fall. We played a home game in a situation where you have to beat a team. And we just didn't get the job done." Young improved to 8-4 as a starter and has led the Titans to six straight wins as they attempt to become the first NFL team to qualify for the playoffs after starting the season 0-5. Tennessee still needs help, and must win its season finale when it hosts New England next weekend. "Every week he does something to amaze me," Jones said. "I can't believe some of the things that he does." It was a wild, back-and-forth contest, featuring seven lead changes. The Bills had a chance to pull it out but failed in the final minute. Facing fourth-and-5 at the Titans 28, J.P. Losman scrambled out of trouble and threw a desperation pass that was intercepted by Reynaldo Hill at the goal line. On the play, the Bills elected against a field goal. They were driving into a wind that was gusting up to 20 mph. Losman finished 19-of-33 for 266 yards and a touchdown, but threw two interceptions. Willis McGahee had 95 yards rushing and a touchdown. "All we wanted was an opportunity," said Bills receiver Lee Evans. "It came down to the end of the game and, defensively, they made more plays than we did offensively." The game turned after Rian Lindell, with a career-tying fifth field goal, put the Bills ahead 29-20 late in the third quarter. Young took over and led the Titans on a nine-play, 62-yard march, which he capped by hitting a wide-open Jones over the middle at the 10. Jones eluded Terrence McGee, who slipped on the play, and ran it in for a 29-yard reception. After the Bills went three-and-out, the Titans turned to running back Travis Henry in a drive that ate up 7:15 and, more significant, produced the winning points. Henry had 41 yards on eight carries during the drive, and finished with 135 yards rushing while facing his former team for the first time since being traded to Tennessee in 2004. More surprising is that Henry arrived in Buffalo late after he missed the Titans flight on Saturday. "I was home just chilling and I got a call from a teammate like they were going to leave," Henry said, noting he had misread the Titans' travel schedule. "I got on the first flight that was available and I had to connect through Charlotte. ... It was crazy." Young laughed when asked about Henry's late arrival. "He's got a lot of money to book him another flight," Young said. "He got here, no problems, and went out there and played the game." Notes With six straight wins, Young moved into a tie for third with Pittsburgh's Mike Kruzcek, for the longest streak among rookie NFL quarterbacks. Losman has 12 touchdown passes in his past eight games, eight of them for 20 yards or longer after he hit Evans for a 37-yarder on Sunday Bironas hit all three field-goal attempts for Tennessee, including a tough 42-yarder into the wind.

Titans use defense to foil Jaguars 24-17 By Teresa M. Walker The Associated Press Cortland Finnegan's 92-yard fumble return for a touchdown was one of three defensive scores for the Titans in their 24-17 win. NASHVILLE, TN, Dec. 17, 2006 — The Tennessee Titans found three more ways to keep their magical ride alive. The 24 points in 10 minutes to beat the New York Giants? Stunning. A 60-yard field goal to beat Indianapolis? Historical. Vince Young's 39-yard touchdown run in overtime at Houston? Impressive. In Week 15, Young and the offense couldn't move the ball against the Jaguars. So the Titans defense beat up David Garrard and returned turnovers 83, 92 and 61 yards for touchdowns and beat Jacksonville 24-17 for their fifth consecutive victory. Credit a franchise-record three defensive TDs and a team-record 370 yards of returns. "I was just thinking, 'Don't get caught,' " rookie Cortland Finnegan said of his 92-yard fumble return for a TD. "I just wanted to get in the end zone and put some points up on the board. You run faster when a play like that happens, and then you find out how winded you are at the end. It was a fun thing." Adam "Pacman" Jones returned an interception 83 yards for a touchdown in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead. Then the Titans broke open a 10-10 game in the third quarter despite the Jaguars running 32 consecutive offensive plays -- not counting a penalty that nullified a 33rd. Finnegan picked up Garrard's fumble and returned it for the go-ahead TD with 4:51 left in the third period. Six plays later, safety Chris Hope picked off a pass and ran 61 yards up the left sideline for a 24-10 lead. "To have to play that number of plays against them consecutively, I've got to take my hat off to our defensive guys," Titans coach Jeff Fisher said. "A valiant effort to be on the field that long, and you've got to give the defense credit for this win." Tennessee (7-7) won for the seventh time in nine games, keeping its faint playoff hopes alive. The Titans' defense was on the field for 82 plays over 44 minutes, 22 seconds, but had five sacks and forced four turnovers. With Jacksonville (8-6) losing, Indianapolis clinched the AFC South title the Colts couldn't grab last week when they were routed 44-17 by the Jaguars. Coach Jack Del Rio said his team played well except for the turnovers. "It's the great neutralizer. You can't lose a turnover battle like that, and you can't have those turnovers returned for touchdowns," Del Rio said. Jacksonville pulled within 24-17 on Garrard's 3-yard TD toss to Matt Jones with 2:37 to go, and the Jaguars tried an onside kick. Stephen Tulloch recovered for Tennessee, but the Titans had to punt it back with 61 seconds left. Three plays later, Reynaldo Hill picked off Garrard's pass to seal the victory. "I have never been a part of a day quite like this; I don't even know if I have seen a day quite like this...," Garrard said. "It is upsetting, and I definitely have a horrible taste in my mouth." The Jaguars came in with the NFL's fifth-stingiest defense, and they did their job in trying to protect a one-game lead in the wild-card chase. The Titans had the ball for only 96 seconds in the third quarter and 15:38 overall and finished with a season-low 98 yards of offense. But it was Tennessee's defense, statistically the worst in the league -- allowing 364.4 yards per game -- that made the biggest plays. The weary Titans even kept the Jaguars out of the end zone despite Jacksonville having first-and-goal at the Tennessee 6 midway through the fourth quarter. A review wiped out a bobbled 1-yard TD catch by Marcedes Lewis. Then the Titans stopped Maurice Drew on third down at the 1, and Adam Jones broke up a fourth-down pass to Matt Jones in the end zone, drawing a standing ovation from the cheering fans. "They did all that work for nothing pretty much," Titans linebacker Keith Bulluck said. "It's demoralizing to a team (to) drive down 80 yards, about to punch it in and you're doing everything right on offense. You're doing everything right but scoring. That's got to be tough." Then Young and an offense that picked up three first downs through three quarters ran off three minutes to give the defense its best rest since halftime. The Jaguars rolled up 396 yards despite losing running back Fred Taylor to a strained right hamstring on his second carry. Rookie Drew scored his 13th TD this season on a 12-yard run in the first quarter and finished with 98 yards. He left the game in the fourth quarter with a left leg injury. A bad omen might have been Taylor pulling up lame when he could have scored. Three plays later, Adam Jones stepped in front of a pass for Williams and ran it back for a 7-0 lead in the first quarter for a 14-point swing. Vince Young's 39-yard TD run wins the game in Houston in over-time.

Who's next? Tennessee 20, Indianapolis 17 Tennessee 20, Indianapolis 17 Preview - Box Score - Recap By TERESA M. WALKER, AP Sports Writer December 3, 2006 AP - Dec 3, 5:50 pm EST More Photos NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Magic is in the air around the Tennessee Titans. Just ask Rob Bironas. Bironas kicked a 60-yard field goal -- the franchise's longest ever -- with 7 seconds left, and the Titans upset Indianapolis 20-17 Sunday for their first victory over the Colts since December 2002 and their second straight amazing comeback. The team that tied for the NFL's second-biggest comeback in the final 10 minutes last week against the New York Giants struck again Sunday against the Colts (10-2), who had lost only four of their previous 36 games. With the wind at his back, Bironas needed every gust to lift the longest field goal in his short career over the crossbar for his second consecutive game-winning kick. He became the sixth kicker in NFL history to connect from 60 yards or better. "I needed that wind behind me today," Bironas said. "It was all at my back ... I let the wind take it the rest of the way." ADVERTISEMENT Peyton Manning said the wind was a big factor for the Titans in the fourth quarter, and never bigger than on Bironas' field goal. "The guy made a heck of a kick," Manning said. The Titans (5-7) didn't trail by 21 this time, but they were down 14-0 in the first half before starting this comeback with 10 points just before halftime. They intercepted Manning twice, and Vince Young threw for two touchdowns and used his legs to help keep the ball away from the two-time NFL MVP. Indianapolis needed a victory to clinch the division for a club-record fourth straight year and its seventh playoff berth in eight years. Seemingly easy enough for a franchise that had won 12 straight divisional games coming into Sunday. Instead, the Colts blew a 14-point lead for the first time coach Tony Dungy could remember and lost to the Titans for the first time in eight games. "They make a 60-yard field goal, and you take your hat off to them. We put ourselves in that position where a field goal beats you, and it did," Dungy said. After Bironas' kick -- he made a 49-yarder with 6 seconds left to beat the Giants -- Tennessee still had to kick the ball back to the Colts. Manning never got his hands on it again. Bryan Fletcher caught the kickoff, lateraled to Marvin Harrison, who tossed to Kelvin Hayden, who was tackled, running the last seconds off the clock. AP - Dec 3, 5:46 pm EST More Photos The Titans then swarmed each other on the field, celebrating with the fans who didn't want to leave. "Last week was a big step for us," Titans receiver Drew Bennett said. "We think we can do anything." Tennessee has improved on last year's 4-12 record by winning five of its last seven and building lots of confidence. "This team is crazy because we can come out and play the worst in the league, and we can come out and beat the best in the league," said Titans punter Craig Hentrich, who held for the winning kick. "At this point, I don't think there's anything but good coming out of this team the rest of the year." Indianapolis outgained Tennessee 451-382, but the Colts only had the ball for a little more than 12 minutes in the second half, gaining only 47 yards in the third quarter. The big stop came late in the fourth quarter. The Titans, allowing the most yards in the NFL, forced Indianapolis to settle for a tying field goal after facing first-and-goal at the Tennessee 1 late in the fourth quarter. They stopped Joseph Addai for a 1-yard loss, then Manning tossed an apparent TD to Ben Utecht, only to see the tight end flagged for pass interference. That backed up the Colts to the 12, and Manning overthrew Reggie Wayne. Asked about the penalty, Manning asked the reporter to tell him what happened. "Can you get fined by the officials for saying something like that? ... I didn't see it. Obviously a shame was what that was. (We) still had a chance to score after that and didn't do it," Manning said. Manning then scrambled for 5 yards and lateraled to Addai, who was stopped at the 2 on third-and-goal. Adam Vinatieri kicked a 20-yard field goal and tied the game at 17 with 2:38 to go. Young, who drove the Titans 95 yards in 11 plays, put them ahead 17-14 with a 9-yard pass to Brandon Jones in the fourth quarter. He then set up Bironas for the longest field goal since Al Del Greco's 56-yarder against San Francisco on Oct. 27, 1996, by moving 33 yards in nine plays. The rookie quarterback finished 12-of-25 for 163 yards, and scrambled nine times for 78 yards, his biggest day rushing this year. Manning finished 21-for-28 for 351 yards and a 68-yard touchdown pass to Harrison, who had seven receptions for 172 yards. Notes The Titans last beat Indy 27-17 on Dec. 8, 2002. ... Young improved to 5-4 as a starter. He has scored at least one TD in each of his first nine starts. ... Titans running back Travis Henry became the 100th player in NFL history with 5,000 yards rushing. He finished with 20 carries for 93 yards. ... Manning and Harrison connected on a 68-yard TD pass that padded their NFL record to 100.

Three plays later, Adam Jones stepped in front of a pass for Williams and ran it back for a 7-0 lead in the first quarter for a 14-point swing. Vince Young's 39-yard TD run wins the game in Houston in over-time.

No problem! I love this picture! First Eli, and now Peyton.

Rob Bironas kicks a 60-yard field goal with 12 seconds left in the game. He goes to kick it, Jeff Fisher changes his mind and sends out Craig Hentrich to punt. And then grins and sends Bironas back out. He pauses, starts to shake, and looks at the up-rights. He then takes a deep breath, holds his head down looking at the snapper. And then backing up he prepares for the kick of his life. The ball his snapped and Rob goes up kicks the ball, and boots a 60-yard bomber right through the up-rights. Game. The Colts try a little trickery during the kickoff and completey screw it up. And the time ends with Peyton Manning holding his head down and fury overcomes him. The Titans haven't beaten the Colts in almost three or four years. In one of the biggest games the Titans have ever played, they come out victorious playing the leagues best team. Final score: Titans 20 Colts 17. Long live Vince Young baby!!!

Let's just today has been a great day. I got my new cell phone!!! WOOT WOOT!!!! And there was one point today that a great feeling of happiness overcame me. It's something that I haven't felt in a REALLY long time. It was amazing.

Song of the Day:

Hinder: Lips Of An Angel

Honey why you calling me so late
It's kinda hard to talk right now
Honey why you crying is everything okay
I gotta whisper cause I can't be too loud
Well, my girl's in the next room
Sometimes I wish she was you
I guess we never really moved on
It's really good to hear your voice saying my name
It sounds so sweet
Coming from the lips of an angel
Hearing those words it makes me weak
And I never wanna say goodbye
But girl you make it hard to be faithful
With the lips of an angel

It's funny that you're calling me tonight
And yes I've dreamt of you too
And does he know you're talking to me
Will it start a fight
No I don't think she has a clue
Well my girl's in the next room
Sometimes I wish she was you
I guess we never really moved on
It's really good to hear your voice saying my name
It sounds so sweet
Coming from the lips of an angel
Well, today, I went to my 8:00 class and the professor never showed up. And I had planned to go to all my classes today. So then I made it an effort to go to my 3:00 class since I missed it all week. I really didn't feel like going, but I did anyways. Good thing I did. Only 9 people showed up. Our professor cancelled class cause she didn't want to teach class with half of the people gone. But it doesn't stop there. She passed around the sign-in sheet and said everyone who came in gets extra credit. SWWWWEEEEEETTT!!!!!!!! I'm telling you. NObody can be that lucky! But I was so today was an amazingly great frekainly awersome day!!!!!!!!

This has been an odd week. In some aspects it has been a bad week. And in some it has been very good.

I've had a lot of run-ins with money problems. They have been bringing me down a whole lot. I've been working through them the best I can.

Another thing that I've been struggling with is some personal issues I choose not to discuss.

But now on to the good things:

The other day I was surfing on Myspace when I came across my old stepbrothers site.

I haven't seem him or his sister in 11 years. I sent him a message and he messaged me back. Tuesday night he came to church with me. Afterwards I went back home with him. I stayed at their house til one o'clock in the morning talking to his sister. We talked about the past and how we've changed over the years.

Another good thing that happened to me this week was when I was at work. There is this blind man named Scott. I see him on campus a lot and he comes in Food Lion all the time. Usually our CSM will help him look for his groceries. But they called on me this time to help. At first I was really nervous cause I've never done anything like that before. But let me tell you, it was very rewarding. To know that I helped a person who is less fortunate than me made me feel really good inside. I was this mans eyes for the time he did his grocery shopping.

Guys, I ask that you will keep me in your prayers for the next few months. Many things that I am going through right now I need as much prayer as I can get.

9:10 Literature-very interesting....So our professor is chinese. She was going over the book, when someone said that the bookstore didn't have that one, they had a different one. Then she took off to the bookstore in the middle of class trying to sort this out. She came back to get her cell, and took off again. Said she was calling them to fix the problem. Apparantly, this happened to her last semester too. Finally she comes back and says we will just have to get the book they have. So yeah, thats all that class consisted of.
